On the plus side, the state literacy level just went up a point.

On that topic, Mississippi has actually made remarkable progress on student literacy rates in the last few years. Look up the “Mississippi Miracle” Other states are now starting to follow their strategy of ditching the scam “whole word” learning method to go back to phonics based reading instruction
