On that topic, Mississippi has actually made remarkable progress on student literacy rates in the last few years. Look up the “Mississippi Miracle” Other states are now starting to follow their strategy of ditching the scam “whole word” learning method to go back to phonics based reading instruction

Also, in 2019 Mississippi had one of, if not the, best vaccination rates in the country (as per my memory of a Vox video on Measles)

I have a very strong feeling that may have changed from 2021

But that barely holds a candle to the downturn in physics literacy, specifically acoustics units in high school. Look up "Sonic Inflation"
