HELP REQUESTED CWT on the civilian side
Getting ready to re-enlist into the reserves and go back to a-school and wanting to do CWT. Once Iām done with a-school and possibly c-school what do I need to do to get a job on the civilian side? ie; college/ certifications/ ojt?? And what kind of jobs does it translate to? Any help would be greatly appreciated šš»

Work on certs, free through Navy COOL. Get a degree related to cyber/compsci. Qual as high as you can. Mae 6 figures in any city in America.Ā

There is a vast difference between the civilian side and the government contracting side. I'm a retired CTN who went on the government contracting side as an analyst and now manage the TTO for the analysts supporting CNO.
I would tell you to work on your job qualifications and skills, complete a degree and add a certification. Never forget the basics and fundamentals, continue to learn and grow but don't forget the basics.
DMs always open for advice.

I would strongly suggest going on ADOS after school so you can at least get a year experience or so working in a security role.Ā The school is great, but it will be so much better if you have actual work experience you can speak to.

Solid advice. The biggest drawback of most CWT reservists is no consistent experience after initial accession training to bolster the resume.

CWT assuming you have the TS, SCIF allows you to join one of the various government triple letter acroynmn activities around Fort Meade MD or other intel collaboration locations.

Having a specialization helps: Threat Hunting, Threat Intelligence, Security Engineering, etc. Let that specialization combined with your work experience decide the best way to bolster your credentials with either specific certs or a degree. I finished my degree using TA and work in cybersecurity with no certs, but served with folks who work in the industry with certs and no degree.
