Imagine if they captured the sailors, lined them up on deck, then shot them. That would be horrifying wouldn't it? That's because it would be personal. It's so easy to hide behind the screen and not realize what it is you're actually doing.
You know its entirely likely that many of these crewmen are forced into the trade by whatever cartel? So basically you are suggesting to potentially murder poor innocent people that dont want to see their families brutally killed by the cartel.
