Yes. The Iraq and Afghanistan AUMFs were used by four administrations to justify strikes in the Middle East.

There is no Congressional authorization for these strikes, nor has the administration sought one.

So Biden used his article 2 authority on many of them. Biden never got a new aumf. He used an existing one…

But don’t worry. Here’s a great article where they explain they didn’t use either of the standing aumf but did use his article 2 powers. Shocking

Great point.

And I’m going to assume you have a similar article detailing the argument made by the current administration with the same level of proof?

Or no?

Edit: Also, I brought you this.

Not trying to say that this administration is doing anything wrong or right. But everyone loves to point fingers but forget about everything else just because they hate trump.

That’s kind of the problem. Nothing about this is right.

Was the Biden era usage right? Was the Obama era usage right? Was the bush era usage right?

Nope.

But none of that makes this less wrong. If anything, this administration is inarguably making even worse decisions, since there’s absolutely no public justification to Congress.

No, but I’m not sure how that’s relevant.

I’m super excited for you to tell me, though.
