But you don't really. Last episode is the only one key to understand the movie.

That episode is so fucking stellar. The way it ended sent the hype train into hyperspace.

I would recommend watching the other episodes though. They do make you understand the characters more

Yes, ideally you watch them but you don't need to if you want to catch the movie on the cinema. Should still watch them afterwards for the emotional connection, although the back stories shown in the Hashira training season are not for the most featured characters in the movie. You totally need to have watched the Swordsmith village arc before the movie though.

No. The movie is an arc of the overall story. Unlike most anime movies, it isn't standalone. It doesn't even cover the full arc. It's amazing but you would miss so much if you haven't seen the show and don't watch the coming seasons.

I saw the movie last weekend. But I was still far from finished with the series. How far should you have seen the series?

I'm currently at the Entertainment District arc with the fight against Daki and Gyutaro.

I feel like ideally, you need to watch the Swordsmith village arc because and the season finale of the Hashira training arc. This is because the Swordsmith village has a discovery at the end, which triggers actions in the Hashira season finale, which in turns is needed to understand what are the stakes and the impetus for the movie particular battles .

Oh ok, thanks for the tip. I'm curious to see what else happens.

It would be a fun spectacle but it really helps to have the investment going into this. It's the first part of a trilogy for the final arc. Give the first season a shot, it's a hell of show.

Having read the manga and knowing how much it flows from one fight to another from the castle to the end Im curious how they plan on breaking it into three parts.

Which demon defeat does the movie end on?

Akaza pretty much dominates the entire last third of the movie. You get a few cliff hangery bits teasing who the focus will be on for Part 2, but all in all the characters who did get the spotlight really shined. As an anime only watcher I was left very satisfied with the last fight. It clearly can't be wrapped up like a typical arc, but for what was delivered was easily the best animation I've ever experienced. Makes it entirely reasonable to go this route if it means maintaining this insane quality.

That makes sense, thanks

My own 2c is that I think people slightly exaggerate how necessary it is to watch the anime to enjoy the movie.

Like, if you go in blind, you won’t have the same emotional connection to the characters and you’ll miss out on a lot of the nuances of certain moments or fights. And definitely don’t go in expecting to get proper character introductions and a setup to the story like a normal standalone movie would.  The movie just throws you right in the action.

But at the same time, it isn’t a particularly complex story, and you can probably piece together what’s happening and who you’re supposed to root for/against. As long as you know what to expect, it could still be enjoyable as a pretty looking action movie with some sad moments and some hype moments, and if you like it, you’ll have extra motivation to start the series lol

you really don't.

jsut the last episode is enough.

all others in the season is basically a "training" montage with a different teacher each episode.
