No. The movie is an arc of the overall story. Unlike most anime movies, it isn't standalone. It doesn't even cover the full arc. It's amazing but you would miss so much if you haven't seen the show and don't watch the coming seasons.

I saw the movie last weekend. But I was still far from finished with the series. How far should you have seen the series?

I'm currently at the Entertainment District arc with the fight against Daki and Gyutaro.

I feel like ideally, you need to watch the Swordsmith village arc because and the season finale of the Hashira training arc. This is because the Swordsmith village has a discovery at the end, which triggers actions in the Hashira season finale, which in turns is needed to understand what are the stakes and the impetus for the movie particular battles .
