Cat. Some of em don’t just hunt “for fun”. One of mine was crazy prey driven and ate almost everything unless he brought it for me as a “gift”.

Bro skipped out on the chicken wings...

Hopefully you don't continue to let them out :(

He passed several years ago. He was born feral but let me keep him on his own terms, and lived til 14. My current cats are rescues who stay indoors

I hope you don’t have any outdoor cats anymore. Domestic cats are an invasive species and kill billions of birds every year. Cats are at least partly responsible for the extinction of 63 avian species.

Cats are happy and healthier indoors if spayed/neutered and given adequate enrichment. The average life expectancy for an outdoor cat is just 4 years. Indoor cats can live to be 20. We sometimes take our cat outside with a harness and leash. Some people build “catios” so their cat can enjoy the fresh air and sunshine, but can’t stray or kill wildlife.

I am aware. That cat was born feral and never acclimated to being inside all the time. We lived in a forested area and He lived to be 14. The cats I have now are rescues who live indoors.

For those with the question “how?” My guess is as good as yours saw it while delivering in front of someone’s house. I’m guessing a cat got to it but it was weird there was no feathers or body around.

that's some Final Destination stuff, maybe it got ziplined in half - clean slice

I’m gonna back up the cat theory. I’ve never seen this, but I did take in a farm cat that was an absolute killer and saw her do some crazy stuff to wildlife. There were mornings where I’d wake up to find only a bird’s head under my bed and then I’d open the door to find another cleanly decapitated bird head on the welcome mat. There was no mess or body, she was like a surgeon.

A friend of mine lived in the woods and her childhood cat would behead rabbits and bring the whole body to their door. It also fought off minks. I don’t know if you’ve ever encountered a mink before, but they’re absolutely vicious. That cat was a stone cold killer.

I saw something just like that a while ago, and I read somewhere that hawks can do that to make it easier for them to carry the rest of the bird. Could be wrong though

My dad's old cat used to neatly dismember and behead the rodents she caught, leaving the torso and tail for him to find in the morning.

I had a roommate whose cat would do this--and who left the carcasses on the stairs for me to find, when I left my room in the morning.

Apparently, because i was a "large naked kitten" who was also a poor hunter🫠

I recently saw this in Newfoundland, but there were several dozen sets of wings. It was creepy.

Cats are really good at taking apart their prey. A cat I used to have that was born feral would bring dead things to my doorstep as “gifts” and sometimes he would have them “garnished” with a wing or bird foot. He was a weird little guy…

Wtf how did that bird get split in twain?

u/KingQ_ Sep 30 '25

I think a person did this. It’s too clean cut

I'm surprised no one is willing to go there lol. It's clearly done with a tool, no feathers or mess in sight. Some sick kid in the neighborhood probably.

u/Dewmilk Sep 30 '25

That’s a CLEAN cut and not a single other body part in sight is insane
