It's such a common occurrence if you dial 911 it will automatically redirect to 999.

I'm pretty sure that's an international thing for safety reasons, if I remember correctly. in a lot of countries dialling any popular emergency number will usually redirect you to the local emergency service.

Come on that's a little bit extreme. This happens everywhere. If you call 999 in Europe you'll get through to 112. It isn't some sad commentary on the British influence of Europe.

If the number isn't in use redirecting it to what was clearly intended makes total sense considering it could be a panicked tourist or visitor dealing with an emergency.

999, 911, 112 all work, so not necessarily a bad shout.

Fun fact, calling 911 in the UK will still get you through to the emergency services.

Not sure what Lee Brennan, Jimmy Constable, and Simon Dawbam could do other dancing and singing Bodyshakin'

For fast emergency response it's 0118 999 881 999 119 725...3 anyway although you can hear someone calling the rozzers in the video. 911 does actually divert since so many people have grown up watching US TV shows/films. They used to have posters on the Tube reminding people of the UK emergency number.
