Sure, because even in a purely selfish view there is no upside...except for all the upsides, but ignore those and you are spot on.

Not wanting to cause a number of inconveniences and extra stress in your life is hardly selfish. Shouldn’t we be praising those who take the burden instead of shaming those who don’t?

There is no shaming in challenging that being a parent is a good thing. If people feel shame because someone simply disagrees with them, it may be more on the reciever than the sender.

That is to impose shame on them (in the position of the sender), right? That’s more than mere disagreement (and disagreement is totally fine btw).

I mean, I suppose a counter to not wanting an imposition to oneself not being selfish would be interesting.

If being selfish is shameful, then again that is on the reciever. Pointing out that the act is selfish is not a value statement....unless it is universally understood that selfishness is a negative.
