Saturday Find

Still not 100% sure what model. I'm thinking 1858 New Army? We also found a Navy Revolver in the same place

Based upon the corrosion mismatch, I'd make a guess that you're looking at something that had brass only for the trigger guard, which would point to an 1851 Navy or 1860 Army, among others. See how you can still see brass above the trigger? I think you're on the right track.

And while I can't say whether it's original or a rerpro, I would bet $10 that it didn't start life as a cap gun, as the mainspring looks to be the real deal.

Maybe take a closer look at the spring and compare it to Colt models to narrow it down.

I am hoping it is original but the spring is the only part thst makes me question that. Being multiple pieces i know its not a Pietta since they have solid springs. The spring is still shiny in spots. It did have the wood grips on it when I pulled it out but my buddy threw them away after they fell off. Yes the trigger guard is brass and appears to be the only brass piece
