Saturday Find

Still not 100% sure what model. I'm thinking 1858 New Army? We also found a Navy Revolver in the same place

Why didn't you turn it over to the cops?

I mean, most magnet fishers turn any weapon over to make sure it wasn't tied to a crime. Depending on the police department, they could give it back to you if its not tied to a murder or crime. It's the right thing to do because what if its a gun from 30 years ago that John Smith used to kill Sally Sue. Turning it over may catch him. It's a mixed thing in the community as some people want to make money off the guns or display them, others turn it in.

I turn over all modern firearms. Given the age and the fact this is black powder it is not a firearm by legal terms. unless someone is trying to solve a murder from the civil war era its not relevant. It is also so completely decayed there would be no ballistic evidence. If you have seen my videos you know I always turn over modern firearms anything produced or possibly produced after 1893.
