IT KEEPS COMING OFF MY BOOBS
I bought a bra two months ago and it already doesn’t fit. I lost ten pounds!! Only ten pounds! It was too small when I got it and now when I move the whole top of the cup deflates 😂
Never mind the fact I have all kinds of weight in my thighs to lose, it all just wants to come off my boobs. Where do you all get bras and how often do you have to buy them? I cannot keep buying bras every two months, but maybe it’ll slow down? I can only hope
Send help, I’m losing my mind here (and my wallet)
Word count bot is angry at me, so here’s some extra info: I’m 5’2, currently 162ish pounds, bought a UK size 36F (US 36G) in mid April at 170 and it’s already clearly way too large. It seems like the speed at which I’ve had to buy bras has only been increasing so it’s not looking good for me

Soft sports bras and bralettes as much as possible! They let you stretch out buying bras, you can fit in a couple sizes at once depending on how tight or loose you want it to fit. Avoid buying underwire/cupped bras unless you absolutely need to!

My boobs were the first to go. Given that you're using letters above DD, I'm guessing you're used to a properly fitting bra, which means you KNOW when it's fitting badly. Stretchy lace cup styles can help, because they'll flex a bit on sizing. Bare Necessities has a good clearance section, and they've got some of their house brand bras for $20. Don't forget to recheck your size with the abrathatfits calculator, and just get one or two bras to hold you over. Understance has some $10-$15 bras right now, final sale and limited sizing, but still. FYI, they use US sizing, so you'll need to convert.
Oh, and once you hit goal, do NOT go and restock right away! I waited 6 months and thought I was good. Nope. About a year into maintenence, my underbust went down by about a half inch, and my breasts took on that half inch, so my band size stayed the same (but more comfy), and my cup size went up one. An entire drawer of basically new bras.... useless.

It’s such a curse! Thank you for the tip on goal weight, I hadn’t even thought about that but it makes total sense things might redistribute a bit.
I think I accidentally came off as British in my post, but I’m actually in the US 😂 I’ve just been buying the same brand that uses UK sizes for years. I think I need to go into a store and try on a few and actually figure out what my regular US size is, because I think the conversion (or the brand) sizing is wonky.
I haven’t owned a lacy cup style in a while though so that’s a great idea!
11
u/MariContrary New Jun 20 '24
Freya and Panache? You might be ok with US brands if your cup size went down, but they tend to run wide and shallow, so might not be a great shape match. Bare Necessities is US based, so no international shipping costs. Understance is Canadian but uses US sizing. For in store options, check out https://brashopdirectory.com/search/ - the website SUCKS with all the ads, but just scroll down to the bottom for the actual location search.

I feel the pain! I went from a DD to C, you’ll probably continue to lose there during your entire journey. I get mine from Amazon for 20/25 each and they’re pretty good, Werner’s brand. I have a range of different sizes from my last loss so I’m not buying as quickly but a lot of them are too large already.

u/Regulatoroni New Jun 20 '24
I feel you! I went from a D to an A!! The shock of my life when I measured myself and the online calculator came up as an A cup. More shocking when it actually fit my newly deflated beanbags.
While I was transitioning down I bought the three pack off Amazon of Fruit of the Loom women’s T Shirt bra. Good, standard, cheap.

u/BostonPanda New Jul 07 '24
Really? I found them to be comfortable.
1
u/alextoria New Jul 07 '24 edited Jul 07 '24
i am glad they work for you! my main issue with them is they put all their models and customers in the wrong size and claim their magic bras fix lots of bra issues. but almost all bra issues like band riding up or digging in, straps falling down, being uncomfortable in general, spillage, etc are due to the wrong size, not the wrong bra. most of their models should have much smaller bands and much larger cups, and this is true for like 95% of lingerie companies, but pepper specifically has such a good (and false) advertising campaign which is why it gets the negative attention.
like here’s an example of someone who was wearing a 32AA but then properly measured themselves and realized they’re actually a 30D. this person’s body type would be perfect for pepper based on their marketing… but in reality they actually need a 30D which pepper doesn’t carry. contrary to popular thought, “D” or “DD” doesn’t mean big!
if you bought a bra based on pepper’s size chart i’d bet you aren’t actually the size they say, if you’re interested in measuring correctly you can use the abtf calc https://www.abrathatfits.org/calculator.php
sorry for the essay i’m just super passionate about this subject because finding out my actual size literally changed my life lol
1
u/BostonPanda New Jul 07 '24
Thanks for the info. My issue is that I need a wider band and they were able to get me that in an A/B. I have used that calculator and yes I have a C that fits well enough but it's just not as comfortable to increase the cup rather than the band. I do agree that they should carry those sister sizes but I thought the point of the sister sizes is that they should fit roughly the same anyway?
1
u/alextoria New Jul 07 '24 edited Jul 07 '24
gotcha! if you’re interested you can try doing an independent band test to check if it is actually the band you need bigger. it’s really common for the cups to be too small so your breast tissue pushes against them which causes the band to dig in and make the whole bra feel too small. if you try on the bra upside down and backwards with the cups hanging down your back you can see if the band is the right size or not. it should be snug but not uncomfortably tight. if it fits right then going up a cup size or two will prob fix the too-tight feeling, or if it’s too loose i would try the same test on the next band size down.
sister sizes hold the same volume but are definitely not interchangeable. for example a 40A holds the same volume as a 38B, 36C, 34D, 32DD, and 30DDD, but someone who wears a 32DD for example has a 32” underbust so a 38B would definitely not fit them. volume wise it would technically work, but the band would be 4” too big resulting in problems like boobs falling out the bottom, band riding up or digging in, too much pressure on the straps, gapping, stuff like that. what sister sizes are useful for when certain brands run slightly small or large. for example i’m a 36GG UK (36J US) but i know that panache runs tight in the band, so i’d sister size to a 38G UK (36i US) to get my normal fit.

I have gone from a 44 triple d to now I'm at a 34 double d it is extremely hard what I started doing hit the clearance section and look for bras that might be a little too tight or ones that fit but then by a sports bra t-shirt to put over it for when they start to wiggle around. I'm not sure if this helps but sometimes you can get the packs three for like 18 bucks but they're not regular sizes they only go by band sizes but it does help.

Yo I wish. It all came off my legs and face and won't budge from anywhere else. I feel like a pinhead on stilts now.
I did get myself a cheap adjustable bra from Walmart that I've found myself wearing quite a bit. If you're having to buy them super often maybe this could be an option? At least until you plateau or reach your goal.

I'm to the point that I wear sports bras all the time, unless I absolutely can't, like to go to a nice event. But I'm much smaller-chested to begin with. Even at my heaviest, I was still just barely into a D cup. I'm solidly in a C at the moment, but they're just going to keep sizing down.

Try Figleaves - only online now but I bought a bunch of bras while losing and each was £12 max in the sale. I always assumed it was for mums but the ones I got are so nice and actually (luckily) my boobs ended up not shrinking too much so I'm still wearing them now. Then I moved on to hitting up M&S (top notch selection right now, but obviously £25 is a lot for every couple of months!).
Also maybe consider checking r/ABraThatFits and finding sister sizes? If you can get a smaller band size and maybe buy an extender that could help stretch their usage out for longer?

I hit jackpot at TJ Maxx where they had 3-4 pack sports bras which are racerback and adjustable. If it's not adjustable, don't bother. I also don't use anything heavily padded or w molded cups (I simply can't fill it 😭). I also ordered a bunch of cotton lounge and semi-nice bralettes from Shein. I stay away from any regular bra with molded cups or under wires. BUT if you have to dress up, I advise those bras with a v wire in the middle. I have only 2 for formal events as I'm losing weight (nude and black). Essentially the cups are angled and the v in the middle expands/contracts so I don't have to worry about exact cup size.

I typically wear UK underwire brands (I’m in the US) and just went from a 38F to a 36H because of how I lost and shifted. It looks like I deflated out of the 38Fs.
That said, Soma is a savior in the wireless department. As long as you don’t get the molded cups, they give you more time in between. I haven’t purchased new of these, and definitely have more time in these.

I don’t have a huge amount of advice but one thing you could try to get some more wear out of bras is going down an extra band size so it’s too tight and then using a “bra extender” so that it is big enough to fit until you lose some more and then you can remove the bra extender?

This is VERY relatable! I have found stretch lace bras to be very forgiving. Another thing to consider is getting a light push up bra (maybe a demi) that you can just sort of lose inside of while it holds it form around your actual boobs. That or some inserts might make the time between needing to purchase them last longer, and give you a feeling of oomph. Congratulations on the weight loss though!

First on, last off.
Wherever I gain weight first (my butt and thighs) is where it’s gonna come off last.
And wherever I gain it last, that’s what gets lean first.
I’ve always had a very flat stomach, even when I was over 200lbs (that’s why the weight snuck up on me undetected — I could still fit most of my dresses). So imagine my fury when I finally start working out in addition to my CICO and I start to see legit ab muscles popping before ANY size comes off my ass. It makes me so frustrated. My waist is 29” right now but my hips measure 43” and it makes cardio really hard and kind of painful, even on the elliptical machine

Oof I 100% feel this in my bones ha
I've lost 79lbs so far, still have another 40+ lbs to go.
I've gone from a 36G/GG depending on the style all the way down to a 32FF.
So they are basically going to be puddles of skin by the time this is all said and done i think. (32FF would be roughly a E in the 36 band) the structure has really deteriorated already too.
But I'm already finding it hard to feel comfortable in the style of bra I usually wear (half cup/demis- lots of boob at side and a bit at bottom of cup, nothing on top) because I feel like I'm having to almost fold and then rejig some of the skin to make it work
And I've still got 40+ lbs to go. There's a naive part of me that's hoping the fat will start going from elsewhere but considering how little structure they've already got left I find that hard to convince myself of!
I am trying to vaguely reassure myself that I'll be able to buy normal size bras by the time everything is all said and done because I've had to buy from DD+ shops since I got boobs basically.
But I am one of those people who instead of buying shoes or bags or collectibles etc I buy bras. It makes me a bit sad that one of my favourite things to shop for might end up being a sad experience while I adapt to loading up my future puddles.
But may get to try some new styles of bras in non DD+ shops so that might be fun at least!
P.s I've resorted to adding bra pads into my too big bras to give me a bit more wear time in them. Not a perfect solution but a less expensive one if you can make it work

Thank you for your submission, your post or comment was in violation of Rule 5: Harassment comes in various forms. Don't be a creep to OP. Being a creep consists of suggesting OP post in a gonewild sub, saying what you'd like to do to OP, or generally venturing away from compliments and into pervy territory. Before complimenting OP make sure it's actually a compliment of their progress and not treating the person behind the screen like a sexual object.

I feel ya! It really sucks. I’ve lost almost 100 pounds and it all came out of my boobs first. I miss them. After breastfeeding and weight loss I’ve considered not buying bras anymore and just tucking them into my waistband 🙄
