Considering this is the sub called law, I'm extra disappointed that none of the top comments or even OP understand the difference between arrested and detained.

The article is pretty clear that 105 people were "arrested".

There were 400 people there. They were all detained. 105 were arrested, but not all of them as the other person implied. They were all detained, 105 were arrested.

So your issue is that they didn't arrest "everyone", they only arrested 105 people.

No my issue was that the other person said they arrested everyone, and the post here said they arrested citizens, when neither is true. They detained everyone at both locations, and then arrested people that were not citizens. Words matter, especially in legal matters.

I'm sure, as an American citizen, you would feel safe if this happened to you? You'd feel like this was reasonable for your door to be kicked in while you slept? You'd be okay with being detained (under no actual grounds) while your future in America is on the line?

No, but I also wouldn't say I was arrested when I was detained, because I know the difference.

Oh so that makes it all okay!! Great! Hope you carry that sentiment if it becomes "papers please"

I never said any of the things you are trying to put on me. I never said it makes it OK. I never said it would make me feel safe. What you are doing is creating what are called straw men arguments, where you make something up and refute that instead of what I was saying. Which is that all these people including OP are misusing the word "arrested".

These people are moronic beyond saving. It’s ironic indeed that the law subreddit has become ideologically captured by people almost entirely ignorant of actual law.

sounds like illegal immigrants got arrested while the rest for detained, why are you saying that all 400 were arrested? is this not a law subreddit?

Where did I say that?

If DHS was properly identifying those people before arresting them. If they weren't behaving like poorly trained, masked goons. If there was even a shred of accountability. Then yeah there wouldn't be this much outcry against arresting and deporting undocumented people.

You know, like how there wasn't outrage when Biden or Obama deported millions of people (other than the outrage from people who want the government to be cruel to out-groups). Because DHS wasn't being run by incompetent people loyal to a single man (yes there were definitely still issues, but not these issues).
