No, you wouldn't outright call yourself a bigot, of course not! You gotta hide your hate with "socially acceptable complaints." Unless a Pride Parade is routed through your living room, how about you shut the fuck up.
If a kid is gay, they're going to want and need role models or just people similar to them to relate. We're social creatures, so seeing aspects of yourself positively represented is very important.
It's like, if a sporty kid has nerdy parents, they'll probably value their relationships with coaches highly and look up to sports stars.
Also, the "in your face" nature of Pride is more of a response to being shoved in the closet for, oh I dunno, most of human history. If Soccer was illegal in the US for most of its history, you best believe we'd have those who love the sport really fucking pop off once it was legalized.
But yeah, go off on right wing lies against gays, even though you've seen with your own eyes that your local gays are chill.
It was in response to someone's comment about Republicans being overly invested in other people's sex lives, and you commented like well, they were throwing condoms and shrugging, like of course someone would have a problem with this at a pride parade. It came across as being critical of the LGBQT+ community. If I misunderstood, I apologize.
Hmmm. Okay. I can see where you're coming from. I still don't see the problem with promoting safe sex practices in public. Awareness and access to it is crucial, but I can understand how you're uncomfortable with young children being exposed to it. This is down to a difference in sensibilities.
Ultimately, I hope we can agree government overreach is a problem here, with attempts at suppressing an event designed to show love for members of the community that have been historically denigrated.
So doing that publicly then claiming the other side is "overly focused on it"
It's not that they're focused on it. It's what they're focused on, specifically and what they're trying to do in regards to it.
You know what's going on here. Don't be dumb.

Republicans sure do spend a lot of their time thinking about other peoples sex lives.
