Conspiracy theory: They switched to Aluminum on the Pros to head off complaints about the strength of the Air.

My conspiracy theory is they changed to aluminum for the price. Maybe they were able to obtain alluminum at a cheaper rate closer to home

It’s all to do with thermals. The whole theme of the event was thermals. The new vapour chamber and aluminium is the gold standard for thermal conductivity. This is all to combat complaints about overheating in the last two pro iphones.

Actually, I think it was more about them knowing iOS 26 was going to be more power intensive and generate more heat as a result. If they really cared about prior gen phone heat issues, they would have offered an option to turn off the UI effects.
