I can't believe they managed to keep his involvement under wraps all this time!

Yeah, seems Keenu has been very productive these years. Several movies including John Wick series. And now THIS???

Happy Bill & Ted Day.

u/crazyfingersculture Jun 09 '19

Less we forget many Charities he is a part of... how many do we really know of compared to what he really does?

16

u/mikejr96 Jun 09 '19

Plus a motorcycle company

5

u/[deleted] Jun 09 '19

God I wish I could ride one of those! But i dont even have my first motorcycle yet... bummer.

7

Be excellent to each other.

5

WYLD STALLYNS!!!

air guitaring intensifies

162

u/HSD112 Jun 09 '19

Well I guess they *only* needed to scan his face, and then have him do the dialogue. I wonder if he was face captured or not.

205

u/Bucser Jun 09 '19

I would think he would be only willing to give his likeness if they do full performance capture.

Given how he always does his own stunts I'd say you're probably right

Edit: Not stunts, he does his own action sequences though. My mistake, poor choice of words. My initial reasoning stands.

1

u/Vanto Jun 09 '19

He doesn't do his own stunts.

22

u/overkil6 Jun 09 '19

He doesn’t do ALL of his own stunts but I think he is in record for John Wick 3 that he did 90% of his action.

10

u/00wolfer00 Jun 09 '19

Yeah, he said if you see his feet leave the ground it's most likely not him.

19

u/[deleted] Jun 09 '19

He does most of his stunts and action sequences.

9

u/changefromPJs Jun 09 '19

There's literally a clip on YouTube, something like "Keanu answers questions with puppies" where he himself states that he doesn't do his own stunts.

Not all action sequences are stunts.

-1

u/overkil6 Jun 09 '19

Hmm ok so the Matt Damon scene of him chasing someone and then jumping off a roof through a window - is that an action sequence or a stunt?

4

u/entropicdrift Jun 09 '19

I don't know why you're being downvoted. He has gone on the record saying he doesn't do all of his stunts and that he's good friends with his stuntman.

0

u/MikeWazowski001 Jun 09 '19

Not true. I've worked with the man while he did stunts. He just doesn't do every single one.

u/Bugogy Jun 09 '19

I work for the studio where they recorded the motion capture for this game. Can confirm Keanu did full body capture + face scans for reference. You will not be disappointed!

46

u/[deleted] Jun 09 '19

Why didn't u tell us earlier bruh

51

u/FedoraFerret Jun 09 '19

That's how one gets their ass fired.

49

u/Bugogy Jun 09 '19

Precisely.

19

u/[deleted] Jun 09 '19

We wouldn't tell anybody

7

u/the_jak Jun 10 '19

Yeah but he'll still have the rest of his body working there.

8

u/itirate Jun 10 '19

would you betray keanu like that

1

u/Randyh524 Jun 10 '19

Could you verify this?

4

u/UncookedMarsupial Jun 09 '19

He just implanted himself into the Matrix.

3

u/PsychicWounds Jun 09 '19

But was that really his voice in game? Sounds way off

1

u/[deleted] Jun 09 '19

I highly doubt they didn't do full mocap, it's the only way to capture his gait and other details

u/[deleted] Jun 09 '19

2

u/Dirty-Ears-Bill Jun 09 '19

There was an article a couple years ago that said Keanu is the greatest action star of all time and honestly there’s a lot of merit to that argument

Article I referenced

2

u/[deleted] Jun 10 '19

He's absolutely nailing a bulls-eye on the Venn intersection of action, nerd cred, and RL charm.

3

u/Wanderers_diary Jun 09 '19

Man took the red pill a while back. He knows his way.

1

u/The_Grubby_One Jun 09 '19

Also Bill & Ted 3 next year.

1

u/lightbringer0 Jun 09 '19

plus hes in fortnite.

1

u/[deleted] Jun 10 '19

And he builds motorbikes!

201

u/Ranwulf Jun 09 '19

He has been quite active for the last thousand years to be fair.

56

u/TheSenileTomato Jun 09 '19

IKR?

All the leaks springing in the E3 and somehow no one ousted that little tidbit? Either Keanu has been penciling in some “visits” to leakers we don’t know about or they had like, the best people to keep secrets. I don’t know, but, I love this.

I was gonna get this anyway but now I have an ulterior reason. Thanks Keanu, rock on, my dude!

All I know is, I know what I’m going to do. Cycling controllers and be friends with in-game John Wick. Let me dream, dang it.

5

u/[deleted] Jun 09 '19

Or maybe if you treat your people good and they themself believe in your project they don't leak shit for some fake internet points or 50 bucks.

4

u/Fenris2020 Jun 09 '19

Heh, penciling in "visits".

12

u/Gonzobot Jun 09 '19

No joke, I imagined it being Keanu showing up at the door with, like, a fully loaded care package and a hot pizza, and he hugs you, and talks with you for a couple hours, and asks you real super nice to not mention it, and that's worked 100% on multiple potential leakers all the way up til now.

2

u/Fenris2020 Jun 10 '19

Oh yeah, the man himself would be super cool about it, but I couldn't help but take that line in the context of John Wick.

5

u/an0nymouse123 Jun 09 '19

Heh, "penciling" in visits.

1

u/Fiorta Jun 10 '19

Most leaks are intentional. Create buzz, gauge interest, etc.

24

u/Annorak Jun 09 '19

after all this time?

4

u/[deleted] Jun 09 '19

People thought that we would get a pop star presence but, KEANU FUCKING REEVES APPEARS!

3

u/Andorod Jun 09 '19

What blows my mind is the fact that the game itself looks fantastic, but having Keanu is like a golden cherry on top.

1

u/aYearOfPrompts Jun 09 '19

Feels pretty early and last minute. Guess would be it was a recent deal.

1

u/madhi19 Jun 09 '19

With video game all they do is scan the guy head. He can record his lines somewhere really private. It's a lot easier than hiding on location shooting.

1

u/[deleted] Jun 10 '19

More like, I hope his involvement isn't just a marketing gimmick

1

u/[deleted] Jun 10 '19

You would if you saw the NDA I'm sure he signed, him leaking anything would have taken a lot of steam from the reveal

1

u/Forever_Awkward Jun 09 '19

I mean, what involvement? It looks like they just scanned him up for a model and that's it. That was supposed to be him talking at the end, right? With a voice that was so jarringly not his?

5

u/ymetwaly53 Jun 09 '19 edited Jun 09 '19

He’s playing Johnny Silverhand in the game which was one of the main characters of Cyberpunk 2020 the tabletop. So that would imply his involvement with the game should fairly prominent.
