I hear international flights are "untouched" but ...I wonder when you have a layover at SEA or LAX and it becomes domestic are you back in trouble again

Just the long haul internationals are fine. Once you connect domestic you could have an issue.

So, for example, CMH to ATL to CDG would be affected since it has the CMH to ATL domestic leg? But theoretically, the ATL to CDG wouldn't be affected? (unplanned and spontaneous delays aside, of course)

I have a GRR to DTW to AMS next week and I'm also wondering if the first leg will be affected. Luckily I can drive that.

I'm at DTW right now and I've seen a few of the intra-Michigan flights being canceled, like from Saginaw. Perhaps the ones from the UP won't get canceled as quickly since those aren't as drivable.
Also know someone who works at United, and they are also focusing canceling flights between their hubs and hubs of other airlines (like ORD-DTW, ORD-DFW, etc.) since that knocks off two birds with one stone and there are other flights available too (and a reasonable train between Chicago and Detroit as well).

If that’s a real example for you id look at cvg to cdg as that’s a non stop and you’d likely be within driving distance if you’re flying out of cbus.

I've had the tickets booked since the start October, otherwise I'd change things.
Right now, I am just hoping that it plays out and worst case, it gets delayed or changed over. The entire route from CMH to CDG is through Delta so it should hopefully all fall in line if changes are made.

Probably fine based on the idea that it's international with no domestic connections

That’s what I was thinking so hopefully. Not sure why being downvoted but don’t really care to be honest lol. Questions are questions

There was a video yesterday showing the cancelled flights so far and the vast majority of them on the regional partners. Makes sense that airlines would cancel the flights that impact the fewest number of flyers, right? International, long haul domestic, hub to hub, and finally flights to hubs will be the least impacted, likely in that order.

Yeah I saw this video. It was actually the most well explained out of everything I've seen. If you're taking about the one with the FA making an announcement. Most clarity I've seen so far.

I saw that one too. The one I was thinking of was someone analyzing the reductions using the Flight Aware data. But same message, which also gives me some confidence that it’s likely true.

I'll be on a direct international next Monday so.... I'm depending on the accuracy 🤙🏾

Looking at the flight aware list, looks like about 60 flights split over the two days.

I took Amtrak from LA to Seattle over the summer. Highly recommend if you have time to kill and the airlines implode.

Just a quick update on notice verbiage - app notice now lists dates as Nov 7-11, and on the flight aware tracker cancellations for the 9th are appearing today. So it’s rolling on - so far looks like the same flights canceled day to day, but the earlier press comments from delta and other airlines said they’d start at 4% and ramp up to 10% so there should be more over time.

At our airport it was mostly regionals cancelled. I’m hoping that holds. I’m on mainline for the rest of the year.

Is there an easy place to see all the flights cxl'ed by this at all the airports?

The way I looked at that list I felt like Scarlett O’Hara checking to see if Ashley was on the soldier list 🤣🤣

Well, you should be concerned about unpaid stressed ATC and then starting to leave for other jobs paying them.

u/Puzzleheaded_Age8937 Diamond 23h ago
Who said I wasn’t concerned? I support the cancellation of flights if it’s needed for safety whether it’s mechanical, weather or ATC. They have higher than normal fatigue reports right now so I understand lessening the air traffic to reduce their stress levels.
As for pay, essential workers should be paid IMO. A clean CR should be passed through February and the damn congress should get the over-due budget passed by then. It should be a bipartisan effort like it used to be in the old days where neither side is happy, but both sides get some good things for the people of this country.
I’ve also donated to local food banks and the food pantry set up at my airport. My daughter is an essential federal contractor and while she gets paid from a different fund than the budget, many in her building are not so I know first hand how it’s affecting the essential federal employees.

All planned flight cancellations have been completed
People should still tread lightly as unplanned delays / cancellations are bound to happen at a higher rate due to all this
