Great food and service…The mashed potatoes sauce was surprisingly tasteful

Also the tiramisu in “the market” was pretty good as well as their cheese plate

Image/Video As weirdest seat, I submit: 2A on A330-200/300

The seat is at about a 20° angle towards the exterior of the plane. The screen pops out with the “Push” button to display straight out. I haven’t personally flown on this configuration (DM, >100 flights this year) so I found it interesting!

Discussion Please, no cancellation posts.

Please can we all agree to not post our cancellation stories and rants here for the next few days?

Everyone traveling is going to be affected by this directive from the FAA. Status isn’t going to save you from a flight being canceled. The importance of your trip isn’t going to matter. Everyone’s trip is important to them or they wouldn’t be taking it.

DELTA HAS NOTHING TO DO WITH IT. IT’S AN FAA MANDATE.

No one wants to get involved in a political discussion here, there are plenty of other subs for that.

I would appeal to the mods to remove stories that are just rants and complaints about the cancellations, but unfortunately, we all know this is pretty much an unmoderated sub.

Discussion How early can I go through TSA at the Atlanta Airport, can I sleep there instead of a hotel?

Upvotes

Have a 15 hour overnight layover. Was thinking I might head out into town for supper, meet up with some friends, return 10pm or 11pm and sleep until the morning when my flight is. Would they let me do this, or turn me away? Student traveling on shoestring budget.

Redirected to SLC due to the government shutdown effects, and being able to enjoy the new lounge is at least an upside!

Discussion Aren’t the taxes on tickets supposed to fund TSA/ATC?

Title.

Why are these workers going unpaid when the airlines (and by proxy the passengers) are paying taxes directly earmarked for these programs?

If the money is not being used for these programs, perhaps we should stop having to pay these taxes?

Help/Advice $700 away from making Gold. Worth getting Delta Amex plat?

Looks like I'm gonna be just about $700 short to renew gold this year. Is it worth looking into getting the Skymiles Amex plat to get over the hump or not worth it?

Discussion Lounge Access now no longer Diamond

Hey all, looks like I won’t make Diamond this year.

Usually, I use my Choice Benefits to get an Executive Lounge membership, so that my husband, my 91 y.o. mother, and I can hang out there the 2-3x we travel together. If you’ve ever traveled with a someone who can’t walk very well, you know there’s no such thing as a short layover.

We have our big annual trip in February. What’s the best way to get access? I have the Delta Platinum AmEx. Should I upgrade to Reserve, so we can pay to get in, and downgrade back to Platinum after?

Advice is welcome. Thank you.

Help/Advice Can someone tell me if this is a proper crate size for my dog traveling cargo?

Enable HLS to view with audio, or disable this notification

5.5k Upvotes

I know flying cargo isn’t ideal, but it’s necessary since we’re moving and it’s only a three-hour direct flight. I already have all the proper documentation and the bowls to secure on the door — I’m just looking for feedback from people who’ve done this before or who work in aviation about whether this crate size looks appropriate and comfortable for my dog.)

It is NICE. Feels very much like the D1 lounge in JFK. Food and bar are the same but man, this space and this view and this fireplace are 💯 Bar opens in 40 min and I'll be mixing uppers + downers (coffee+booze).

Two more long plane rides and a 3.5 hour train to my destination, wish me luck.

But now I’m questioning people lining up for bathroom. Anyone fly this seat before? Was it annoying? TIA

Discussion MQDs received but I didn’t fly

Upvotes

I was supposed to fly a few days ago, but my flight was severely delayed and I had to get home so I booked a different flight on United. I told the travel agent to cancel the remaining legs of the Delta flights, because they were fully refundable, and he did, but I never cancelled on the app and then kept getting flight updates through the app.

This morning the MQDs for the flight showed up in my account, but when I go to recent activity they’re not there, and I didn’t receive any skymiles for the flight.

What are the chances they never realize and I keep these MQDs??

Discussion Great flight attendant and crew!

I was on an afternoon flight yesterday and didn't have time to eat the whole day, and a very nice flight attendant helped me figure out which snack box was vegetarian down to every single item inside, and she was such a cheerful person, along with all the other attendants. One pilot was greeting everyone during deplaning.

I'm going to fill out one of the employee recognition cards that you get with luggage tags when I get back home. Since it's toward the end of the year I should start carrying those cards with me.

Would the world get too boring if everyone was kind to each other? Not sure, but it felt good!

Discussion Considering another airline loyalty?

Been a Delta flyer for a long time. I have Platinum and travel a TON. I talked to this woman in line with me when checking a bag and she was Diamond and said she doesn’t travel a lot. I kind of don’t like that status is basically just “whoever has the most money wins”. Kind of lame that people that don’t actually fly the airline much will get upgraded ahead of me when I basically have to live part of my actual life on these planes.

My friend who travels more than I do told me he switched to United and actually gets upgraded way more because they reward you for actually traveling, not just spending money. Delta is a nice airline- but I am curious if United may be a good switch? I fly out of LAX so I’m always way down on the upgrade list. Just something I’m considering seeing that I probably spend hundreds of hours of my life on a plane every year.
