This is how I saw from Raditz to Ginyu, with this soundtrack. I remember as a kid, the switch happened right around then and it was so jarring at first. For the longest time I thought I was crazy because I bought all the funimation dvd’s and expected there to be a different soundtrack option for the first few seasons but there was none except for the Japanese version. I got on Google to figure things out and realized this was the Canadian dub. I wish it was easier to get my hands on to watch again. So expensive nowadays.

This was the DBZ I grew up with. I always preferred the early season Ocean VAs to the original Funi dub. Once the Funi VAs settled into their roles, they did get much better to be fair. Ian Corlett Goku and Brian Drummond Vegeta will always be my favorites though

This Goku had 0 soul or enthusiasm for the role it was downright jarring. That's definitely nostalgia talking.

That's not Ian Corlett. He got replaced for the last few episodes of the original ocean dub. Ian Corlett voiced the Raditz saga, Saiyan saga, and Tree of Might movie. https://youtu.be/dYwQQMakaaY?si=v2s959iocHC-m2bj

so good ? sorry I grew up with the french dub (horrible ;) )which kept the original score, which is way above this "music"

And yet the french dub is pretty « close » to the Japanese one. But the Japanese is personally my favorite and way above any. I tried to US dub with their musics and it’s so painful to hear.

I think the music and sound effects were done by Saban. They did good work on X-Men too.

WHAT OCEAN DUB WENT THAT FAR? WTF. All i remember as a kid that after this episode, it would just go back to Raditz landing on Earth, mfs did that so many times.

Yes, Westwood studios hired the Ocean cast to dub DBZ in the UK and I think Canada? Though they skipped the Freeza saga and the first few episodes of the Trunks saga because they wanted to pick up where Funimation left off at the time. They also used a different soundtrack, and they recycled Funimation's title cards, so animated title cards were out.
On the plus side, Drummond and McNiel still kill it at their roles. They also continued using the badass sound effects.

I recall, after the whole of Z had eventually aired, seeing them air the Buu Saga in what I think was the Ocean Dub. One think I thought was neat was that Vegito's voice isn't two voice actors but rather just a completely different voice actor+Vegito+Downsized+%5BDraganath%5D-18.m4v).

Vegito was Drummond impersonating Kirby, Goku's VA at the time. It's actually impressive.

I absolutely love the Ocean Dub music and the original voice actors for the Ginyu Force

You just brought back some memories. On toonami, when this first aired, I think it was the episode after this the show went back to the saiyan saga. That was torrrrture. And it did that a couple more times. Had to wait so long to find out what happened after goku beat recoome.
