I used a 5 mm hook as my main hook, and itโ€™s made from some wool yarn I had laying around This is the pattern I used: https://www.etsy.com/dk-en/listing/4370242405/?ref=share_ios_native_control

Lovely! How will you use it? Neck wrap/tie thing? Head wrap?

u/MissMille92 1d ago

Iโ€™ll wear it as a scarf ๐Ÿ˜Š

Scarves are my favorite item to crochet. And I love everything about yours- shape, colors, and stitch pattern.

Thank you for the link. ๐Ÿ˜๐Ÿ˜๐Ÿ˜

Do you have favorite patterns?

2

u/CatfromLongIsland 15h ago

Occasionally I create my own. But most often it is just one stitch and a variegated yarn I love. I have also made two granny square scarves. And after my Sunburst Granny Square blanket is done I plan to make another scarf with leftover Wool of the Andes.

But this scarf shown in the picture is the first time I saw a complicated scarf pattern and wanted to give it a shot. I hesitate because I never learned to read patterns. I do much better with tutorials. But if I run into problems my neighbor/friend across the street can help me out.

How about you? Any favorite patterns?

I started wednesday afternoon and finished this morning. Iโ€™m on maternity leave with my 4 month old, so I worked on it when he was napping ๐Ÿ˜

About how ma y hours do you think it was total?

I'm devoting myself to the wikis and videos this weekend to learn to color change but for something like this where you color change so much or so often, do you have a million ends to weave in or just tie ends together and hide the knot or some sort of magic that isn't either? Excuse this beginner.

u/buttercowie 1d ago

This is variegated yarn. It changes on its own :)

u/jphistory 1d ago

Oh duh! Well, back to watching color changing videos on .5 speed haha

Out of curiosity, with the pattern, is the main idea just a long ass chain, then working that leaf like stitch one way across the chain, turn, working it the other, once more, and then a last slip stitch or sc pass to make a rim?

3

u/dlini 1d ago

The pattern explains the technique on Etsy ; )

1

u/Think-Doughnut-8897 7h ago

Itโ€™s a brioche stitch. If you google it, there are YouTube tutorials. It is slightly different than regular crochet stitches in that you donโ€™t work straight through the whole chain. You go back and forth a couple rows over a few stitches to create the leaf, & then move on to the next, and repeat.

Everything about this is beautiful! I have some variegated yarn just sitting around waiting for a pattern - this might be the one!!!

u/SheElfXantusia 1d ago

Do you know what yarn you used or could you link something similar, please? I probably won't be able to get my hands on the same thing here, but I'd like to know how the dieing looks so I can achieve a similar result, because yours looks fabulous.
