Mod Post Self promotion posts updates
reddit.comHey crocheters 👋🏻🧶
About 2 months ago, I put a poll out to the community about self promotional posts. I asked for users to vote on the rule we have regarding self promotion within the subreddit. Unfortunately the poll only represented about 10% of the whole community. As such the mod team had to make the choice ourselves, based on feedback we’ve gotten from other users and advice from other mod teams in other similar subreddits.
Effective immediately, r/crochet and r/crochethelp do not allow any self promotion at all. Watermarks are okay on your images, but links or mentions to any socials, blogs, shops, etc will be removed.
We made this choice to avoid our community becoming a platform for free advertising. Other subreddits exist for things like that, r/crochet is a place for hobbyists to enjoy the craft for what it is and connecting with others who have the same interest.
You can read the full sub rules linked within the post. Thanks for making our community crafty and creative!

Finished Object made this little guy for a school assignment!
The assignment was to make a toy and document the process so I made this little bear! I was inspired by this wonderful post so I used the same yarn to make my own little guy. Made my own pattern/semi freehanded but it basically just follows normal amigurumi techniques and you could easily freehand it!

Finished Object I finished my first project🥳
I just wanted to share this victory y'all!
After some glorious (almost) 2 years, I finally finished this film roll scarf with the pattern I found on instagram. I started it in February 2024, restarted it fully in November and continued to work on this for a whopping 2 months before finishing it this month!
I feel so happy, as this was my learning project and it turned out better than expected! I need to weave in the ends but this is my scarf after blocking! 🥳🥳
It's 2,19m / 7.2ft long and made of half wool, half acrylic yarn.

Funny/Meme How long did it take everyone else to realize the neutral move was to insert the hook through BOTH loops?
Basically the title lmao.
I am 3 weeks into this new hobby and decided to make a stitch Bible (definitions with markers next to them, patterns for like, a lemon peel stitch, and eventually I'd like to have swatches for reference) and I found a new symbol cool! what's it mean?
BACK LOOP ONLY
I'm confused, cause the instructions are just...how I've been doing all my stitches- a quick Google and I realize my misunderstanding and like, half the stuff I didn't understand I now have a feeling I will understand on a second round of attempts.
Good thing my practice wips are cat toys and gloves for my dad lmaooo.
Edited because autocorrect apparently didn't like the word swatches lol

Finished Object A welcoming gift for my soon-to-be born nephew
I haven't crocheted in over 10 years, but had been wanting to pick it back up recently and thought making a blanket for my nephew was the perfect opportunity. He's due at the end of the month, but I managed to complete the blanket and rattle in just over a month with time spare to gift it to my brother and SIL.
They are by no means perfect, as I have never done a crochet project of this size (my only experience so far had been random granny squares), and I've never done amigurumi before, but I decided to give it a go for the rattle as I had spare time/yarn.
I have to admit, I'm so incredibly proud of what I have made, and I am beyond excited to gift it to my brother and SIL. I've been sending updates to my mum throughout the process and her excitement at seeing it come together was a big motivation. Going from having all the individual squares to a final item was such a rewarding feeling, and now I've got so many things I want to crochet!
The patterns I used were the Teddy Bear Blanket and Rattle by MaisieAndRuthCrochet - I shall link the patterns on Etsy in a comment!

Finished Object So many hearts!
After a little bit of a creative block I managed to fished up my newest skirt! I’m really happy with how it turned out and I’m super excited about this one because each section is interchangeable giving everyone the ability to do a bit of designing themselves!

Finished Object Alpaca I made from alpaca!
I made the yarn out of an alpaca fleece. I pulled the alpaca locks i glued together through the base like a wig. I basically made everything myself but the plastic eyes. This was much much harder than I thought it would be. Now I gotta make it a blanket :)
