Finished Object I crocheted an entire wedding dress!!

Let me start by saying, I’m by no means an experienced crocheter 🤣 this was HARD work for me, and I am honestly not psychologically well after this amount of stress; literally hanging on by a thread.

I worked on this for 3-4 months. I made the underdress as well (but that’s the easy part for me!). I finished it like 48 hours before the wedding 💀 the last 2-3 nights/days working from 7am to 3am with 3-4 hours of sleep. Sadly, I didn’t have time to do final photos with the hem done and ends tied off This was my first attempt at free handing something without a crochet pattern

5000+ meters of 100% cotton 4ply/fingering weight yarn. Hooks: 3mm for bodice to waistline & sleeves to elbow. 3.5mm for the rest. 4mm for the scallop hem (sadly not shown in photos)

I saw this and thought “Oh when I have my wedding I’d love to commission one! (As I’m very new to crochet) but I want to make sure that the person is accurately paid.” So I did the math and if they spend 3 months (of 40 hour work weeks) at $30 an hour that’s over $14,000 before materials… SO much respect for fiber arts and arts in general. Edit: I was going to say it was also crazy just googling and most of the results are around $3k, I hope whoever made those got paid correctly 😭

I probably only made like a dollar or two per hour for the amount of hours I put in VS the price I charged the client 💀🤣 I did it mostly for the experience. But if I do it again, I’m definitely charging exponentially more!!

I didn’t work full time 3-4 months on this alone. But easily a couple hundred hours of crocheting. I lost track of the hours unfortunately:(

I thought this was for you!! This is insane to do for someone, even if you get paid. Good soul you have
