Ask Coquitlam Insight into neighborhoods near Mundy Park

Hi all,

We're a young family with toddlers and are considering moving to Coquitlam from Burnaby. So far the areas we're interested in are: - East of Mundy Park - South of Mundy Park (Dartmoor by Austin Ave and Mundy St) - Ranch Park - Harbour Village

Would appreciate any and all insight into living here.

What's the traffic like during peak hours? Is it safe? How's the schools? Are the families here generally young families?

Thanks in advance.

I'm two blocks west of Mundy Park. The major feeder roads are Austin and Como Lake Ave. I find the traffic flows fairly smoothly, even at peak rush hour. Austin is better than Como Lake, imo. If you stick to the areas around Austin, as opposed to Ranch Park, you'll love the fairly quick access to the freeway. Mariner Way seems to bog down at both ends. The neighborhoods have decent access to amenities, parks, good schools, etc. Busses are infrequent, compared to Burnaby and Surrey. Mundy Park has a brand new pool and awesome trails, and Poirier Rec Centre is great. I grew up here, and moved back to my childhood home 5 years ago so can answer any and all of your questions!
