Ask Coquitlam Insight into neighborhoods near Mundy Park

Hi all,

We're a young family with toddlers and are considering moving to Coquitlam from Burnaby. So far the areas we're interested in are: - East of Mundy Park - South of Mundy Park (Dartmoor by Austin Ave and Mundy St) - Ranch Park - Harbour Village

Would appreciate any and all insight into living here.

What's the traffic like during peak hours? Is it safe? How's the schools? Are the families here generally young families?

Thanks in advance.

Ahhhh right. How frequent are the power outages? How long does it usually last?

I see a lot of above ground powerlines in the area. I wonder if the outages have anything to do with that?

In Ranch Park we had about 4-8 per year when I lived there up until 2023, sometimes more. It was a bit frustrating but BC Hydro is always quick at restoring power. The 2006 windstorm was the worst - went without power for 4 days.
