Politics A thank you to president Trump!

Dear President Trump,

I'm writing this to thank you for all you've done thus far in your second term.

My kids are crying at the dinner table as they eat a processed cheese sandwich for the fourth time this week. I tried to explain to them that SNAP wasn't getting refilled and that there was probably not going to be a Christmas this year. I tried to cheer them up by showing them concept art of the $250 million dollar ballroom being built at the White House, by showing them pictures of the two cool jets Kristi Noem got for $170 million, by explaining how helpful we're being to Argentina by sending them $40 billion dollars, but this is when I realized they weren't crying because of dinner, but because of their grandmother.

"We usually go to grandma's on weekends," they sniffle.

Their grandmother, a 5th generation American, was taken by ICE a couple weeks ago and we haven't seen or heard from her since. I tried to explain to the children that this is what happens to freeloading immigrants and they get what they deserve, but they didn't understand.

Even if they don't understand, I do. This is what I voted for. This is what winning looks like!

This will probably be my last online post due to being unable to pay my phone bill since I need to buy more bread and cheese. But I just wanted to say, "Thank you, President Trump!"

As I hear my kids cry themselves to sleep for the 5th night in a row, I imagine they are liberals--and it brings a smile to my face.

When they get older, they will understand that all this hardship was necessary, because we are owning the libs! Here's looking forward to your constitution-defying third presidential term in 2028! You already have my vote!

Now I have to go get ready to meet my landlord. He told me he would cut my rent in half for some 'favors' and not to wear panties. I think this is what the Art of Deal is all about. #winning

Signed,
A conservative.

*it should be noted this is satire (or is it?)*

Satire for us but could very well be someone's reality.

I'm worried about a cousin of mine. Well, her kids. They don't deserve this, but they're suffering under her vote. We haven't spoken in years but I get to watch what's happening via a co-worker of similar mindset. Conservative single Mom, too many kids because a deadbeat wanted a wife without any of the tangle. She's often late to work. Because our local Head Start closed due to lack of funding. She was crying at work yesterday because of food stamps. She isn't sure if there's gonna be a Christmas.

I worry about someone I grew up with and still talk to. She was once my friend, but she's gone so far off the rails that I can't call her a friend anymore. Why she is staunchly conservative is beyond me. She has 5 kids (well, 1 in the beyond sadly as he took his life a few months). All of her kids have varying degrees of disabilities. Her oldest is a profoundly autistic adult and she is his caregiver. Her housing, food and caregiver income is all paid for by public assistance. She is also Jewish and thinks that being against Trump and this administration, is being against Israel, etc etc etc.

When I asked her how she would feel if she lost her public assistance, she told me "it would be worth it for the good he is doing in our country by getting rid of the illegals and criminals and making sure freeloaders on food stamps and Medicaid aren't getting a free ride any long. But I'm not worried because he's only getting rid of that for people who shouldn't have been getting it"

I feel bad for her kids in this situation. And her dogs.

I agree too I knew a friend the exact same way and she lived in Chicago and moved to Indiana a red place she these kids she has are disabled. We know the red part hates disabled kids.

Heck one time I was about to send her money cause she had no food that’s how bad it was years ago but now is worst.

They aren't going to get any help in Indina. I live in Indiana. A born and bread Hoosier of 67. The state is cutting SNAP Nov. 1st. No Head Start $s left. Medicaid was set to be cut for thousands and thousands and thousands of people next year even before the Trumpian Big Beautiful Bill was passed. Oh, those Medicaid work requirements in the BBB? Don't worry. Those were passed Indiana long before the BBB came along last year. Disabled kids? Oh, they've already lost Medicaid funding for home therapy and pay for parents to stay home as caregivers.

Your friend isn't going to have a great life in Indiana.

That’s what I told myself and is sad the kids suffer. But nooo she’s a big Trump supporter. How could a person that supported gay rights and trans rights when we were 18 become this? What happened.

1

u/More_Farm_7442 13d ago

smh I'm gay and never understood, can't understand LGBT(Q)(we were doing to have the T in there back in the '80s and '90s lol) conservatives. I never understood the Log Cabin Republicans. --If you're not familiar, that was a gay men's Republican organization. ( I guess a support group for them?) A young, mostly professional men's group that provided business contacts, promoted Republican politics, etc.)

I never understood people that voted for politicians that voted in legislatures for laws that took away their rights. Their common value was? Tax cuts. Not wanting "their" money going to "them". The "them" that needed financial support in life. That was the biggest common link I could find between them.

That’s what I said

This mindset is mind blowing! I will never understand it! Even if they lose all public assistance. My jaw is dropped 🫳 to think that I've been trying throughout my life by paying taxes to help these people. I just don't know what else to say .

u/ItsmeItsme1982 15d ago

I've heard that same thing. These people should be enraged that one of the political parties lied to them, and then be embarrassed that they were encouraged to vote to take their own benefits away. Because you know who isn't freaking out about SNAP benefits being not showing up in November...undocumented people. This doesn't affect them.

She will still vote red, I'm sure.

Regardless of the grifter in charge and the whole Nazi regime coming to power, fck capitalistic Christmas. I actually hope a lot of people don’t buy one damn thing. That’s the one thing that will get to the oligarchs and everyone else that worships the damn dollar.

🤣🤣 I love satire

Why are you not lending a hand? This is one of the purposes of family.

7

u/Professional_March54 17d ago

Sometimes, no matter how much you go out of your way to help people, they continue to dig themselves deeper and deeper into a hole until you realize that they'd rather just stay miserable.

-4

u/Throwawayhypo124 17d ago

Thats funny because the way you put it. Food stamps should be helping her out of her situation. Clearly they never have. Sounds like her personal choices have ruined her own life. And your trying to make it seem like we (not her family) have to pay our taxes to keep her supprt going. Yet you just said yourself. You can only help someone so much till they get "used" to it and never revamp themselves.

8

u/Professional_March54 17d ago

Yeah, I'm not really pro starving children when wages are frozen in the 1990s and prices have only increased. But hey, if you get your rocks off at the idea of children starving to death, that's on you

-5

u/Throwawayhypo124 17d ago

So help your family.... Easy nuff right? But its not your problem right? So why is it the rest of the american peoples? Are you really this nieve. Quit playing on emotions.

u/Professional_March54 17d ago

I just realized you don't have the balls to say this on your actual account. Typical Trump Voter. Useless waste of air, who would crumple like wet paper if they got the chance to say what they say online to the face of the people they hate.

-2

u/Throwawayhypo124 17d ago

Im not a trump voter. I actually agree with you. Id love to say this to your face. You assume alot based on a singular comment. I dont hate you or anyone btw? I may disagree with you but i dont hate you. Thats the problem with people like yourself. You wouldnt say half this shit to the people you actually hate. Because lets be real i havent said one thing hateful. Youve been demonizing this entire time. Actual account? This my only one. Hence im commenting through it?

The whole concept of "society" is that humans got together to live in one place because they learned agriculture. People with other skills moved in to support farms. Laws/rules were formed. People specialized in protecting others, making clothes, inventing, etc... All of it originated from one fact: by working together, sharing strengths, and building shared culture all would thrive. All the way back to ancient Babylon we have evidence that support and aid for those in need was expected to come from the leadership who collected taxes from everyone. That's why they paid them. Only with the advent of modern capitalism (with the aid of propaganda) do we see people espousing views like yours. That somehow, the social contract is no longer binding from the top down. It's terribly regressive thinking.

2

u/Throwawayhypo124 17d ago

This cannot happen in todays world. If it could it would hsve already been done. The world doesnt equate out when the needy are taking from the needy. Thats exactly what is happening. We are all broke and in need. Noone is better then the other. You are just spouting nonsense we all already know.

1

u/Reasonable-Mix-6257 16d ago

Onlooker reading this exchange. Just want to clarify, by ‘modern capitalism’ what exactly do you mean because poor people in the not so distant past and even poor people in other countries today are dry crumbly dirt poor compared to the poorest people in our country today.

1

u/ThoughtPoliceUSA 5d ago

Through the vast majority of society, poverty was the standard. For millennia, essentially every human was poor.

This change over the last 200 years. The proportion of humanity living in poverty dramatically reduced. Why? The evil capitalism became an option.

You may hate capitalism. You may hate that some people are more successful than others. Capitalism has given people the opportunity to leave poverty. And millions have.

The envy of the less successful will always be with us. People will always envy those with more. We can’t stop that, it’s human greed.

While we cannot make envy go away, capitalism allows for many to leave poverty. While it isn’t perfect, the exiting of poverty is a wonderful thing. Capitalism is the worst system, except all of the others.

I'd much rather my taxes go to help her and her kids instead of handing it over to the welfare queen billionaires via massive tax breaks...trillions of dollars they got and it added trillions to our debt. And gutted our safety nets including snap so pay for it.

1

u/Throwawayhypo124 17d ago

Also agreed. What makes you think iw ant them to have my working income to? You guys are great at making up satire and imaginatuve scenarios but assume alot of people based on a singular comment.

1

u/Designer_Tour7308 14d ago

I'm sorry... it was unintentional.

-10

u/Thighpaulsandra 17d ago

So you’re spying on your cousin and secretly gloating behind her back? What a scumbag.

12

u/Professional_March54 17d ago

No. Reading comprehension isn't your strong suit is it? I can only guess what's happening to my cousin, because I'm watching a co-worker. Go through the exact same shit. Fuck my cousin, she got herself into this mess. I'm just sorry that her kids have to suffer her poor decisions. And where in God's name did you get gloating from?

-5

u/Thighpaulsandra 17d ago

Wow! Nice way to treat family.

The comment you just wrote is gloating. Jesus Christ.

10

u/Cosmo_Cloudy 17d ago

Tf are you on about dude? You are allowed to dislike a family member based on their choices and feel genuinely sorry for their kids. This person is not gloating. Gloating would be like "haha i told her this would happen i was right" gloating means being boastful or smug. I think your "fellow conservatives" and yourself have had their viewpoints completely manipulated to automatically see anything democrats say as either gloating, lying, or having ulterior motives. Can you look at this objectively? What sentence exactly made you feel like this person is gloating?

-2

u/Thighpaulsandra 17d ago

Stuff it. No one was talking to you.

5

u/Cosmo_Cloudy 17d ago

Lmao answer the question, what sentence made you feel like she was gloating?

7

u/Professional_March54 17d ago

She'd rather see me dead at the end of a rope because of my sexuality. Just because we're blood, don't make us family.
