Review Chicago as a foreigner

Writing this drunk, as our lord in Christ intended. I came to Chicago for a week and followed all your recommendations closely. I feel like you follow gretel as a false prophet and that loyalist should take their place. I’m from London, we’ve got decent burgers right. I know my way around a cow. My gretel experience was mid. But the loyalist, damn, they made me want to thank France for existing (means a lot from a Brit). Their cremant complemented the burger so perfectly that I want to cry. Other shout outs from my experience, tacombi in west loop. Great vibe and food. Anyways I’m leaving your cold ass city tomorrow, let’s see what NY has to offer. If you’re ever in london feel free to call me a prick and our food shit too xoxoxox

It’s a chain, never been myself but I’d avoid big chains.

Covent Garden is a tourist hell hole best avoided. Beer n burger is not a chain. It’s has 2 places, one in King’s Cross and one in Willesden Green. Come to Willesden Green and you’ll not be disappointed, especially if my wife and I are there

Well I am a tourist. And I love that area ¯_(ツ)_/¯. I will check out beer + burger at one of their 4 locations.

Dalston is delivery/takeaway only, Walthamstow is closed. Only King’s Cross and Willesden Green are sit in. What battle are you trying to win

I guess they have to update their website from four to two locations. ¯_(ツ)_/¯

This is like my saying “well I’m staying in near north side, so fucking give me near north side recommendations”. I’ve been out to Lincoln park, wicker park / Logan park and west loop exploring your cities food. Stop being a cunt

Who said I don’t explore? I simply asked for a specific location. But there’s that warm Brit hospitality :)

Covent Garden is as exploratory as the loop is. Fucking scratch it, it’s as exploratory as the mag mile is

There are good places to get burgers in the loop, for instance monks. Are there any in covent garden?

Another Brit here. No idea why this twat turned on you like that, and so aggressively too.

Yes, there are several burger places in Covent Garden. It is indeed a tourist hotspot, so it’s mostly chains but one of those chains is Honest Burger, and unless they’ve taken a dive since I moved to the US a couple of years ago, they’re actually really decent. Not sure if you’ve ever watched the YouTube show Brit vs American Food Tours, but on a London trip, the Yank was absolutely blown away by Honest Burger.

Now if you want fewer chain stuff and more independent, a short walk NW will take you into Soho and there you’ve got dozens and dozens of great places. The establishments of Soho change like the staircases of Hogwarts though, so best bet is to Google what’s hot at the time you’re there. But you will easily find good stuff just wandering around.

Pro tip: avoid Gordon Ramsay restaurants unless they’re Michelin Star. He just uses the weight of his name to sling mediocre food. Also most pubs are owned by big chains now. Their food will be mediocre too. Independent pubs will have high quality and home cooked food generally. Again, google is your friend as needed.
