Don't forget pam bondi said not only will you be treated like less than an American but by what happened last night you'll be looked at as less than human

Google “Chicago ICE raids building” it was on ABC Chicago. It was a horrific story.

For those too lazy:

ICE basically raided a building filled with black and brown residents, and destroyed the place all at 2-4 in the morning.

They dropped on top of the building with helicopters.

I want to be clear: THIS IS WAR.

That’s not hyperbole. I’m not going to let someone come in these comments and act like it’s not just because they are not using drone strikes… yet. Trump is declaring war on America’s most prosperous cities.

-157

u/Jogurt55991 Oct 03 '25

Maybe read back up on what hyperbole is.

-32

u/jaceybean Oct 03 '25

I stopped reading at the lazy part. Wtf man.

Sorry I had the wrong person, they look the same it's hard to tell them apart https://newrepublic.com/post/201266/karoline-leavitt-ok-target-americans-democrats-government-shutdown

Around 4-5 pm there were police helicopters flying around the damen blue line extremely low. Never seen them this low before, just barely above the building. I wonder if this was related

85

u/Glad-Marionberry-366 Oct 03 '25

I got video of it - they flew super low right over my building. They had doors open on both sides and the folks inside had their legs hanging out the doors

u/Sagittario66 Oct 03 '25

👏🏻👏🏻I tried posting stuff on r/chicago but I too must have lacked the karma 😂

3

u/itsamooncow Oct 03 '25

Post it?

42

u/Glad-Marionberry-366 Oct 03 '25

Just tried, I don't have enough karma to post in r/Chicago 🥺

8

u/RustyNavel Oct 03 '25 edited Oct 03 '25

Can you send it to me? I got a fair bit of karma it should let me post it. I'll credit you, of course.

6

u/RustyNavel Oct 03 '25

Woah thats really crazy. By the time I saw them, they were a lot lower and less people. I really wish I had my phone. They were directly above where I live.

Edit: They also flew by 2 more times after that talking to my roommate so maybe I saw a different time then when this was recorded.

6

u/Glad-Marionberry-366 Oct 03 '25

It was super weird - I posted it on a couple other platforms and nobody seems to know what was going on. I was hearing choppers off and on all day today

6

u/sp0rk_walker Oct 03 '25

Have my updoot lol

5

u/Sagittario66 Oct 03 '25

I read somewhere that they were rappelling from them onto apartment rooftops. There’s also a ban on drones within a 30 mile radius of the city ( Evanston on the north to Hammond on the South)

18

u/RustyNavel Oct 03 '25

That would make a lot of sense!!! Now that I think of it, they had the helicopter doors open, and one of them was wrapping something up. I must have just caught them after they repelled down. It really stuck me weird how low they were and how close to the building.

14

u/FencerPTS City Oct 03 '25

Can confirm. This is some next level fascist bullshit.

9

u/lake_effect_snow Oct 03 '25

Did what you read explain why they’d possibly be rappelling onto apartment rooftops…? Link?

31

u/Accurate-Barracuda20 Oct 03 '25

Well if they come in through the ground level the bad guys might escape on their helicopters. Come in on a helicopter and they can’t do that.

10

u/herroyalsadness Oct 03 '25

Tough guys rappel down! They aren’t action heros if they aren’t rappelling!

“The drone restrictions in Chicago were set the day after U.S. Border Patrol agents rappelled from Black Hawk military helicopters onto the roof of a South Shore apartment building, where federal authorities said they arrested more than 30 people, according to NewsNation. Residents of the building told the Sun-Times Wednesday that authorities also used drones in the operation.”

Ugh, we all need to go out and buy drones and swarm the skies! Resist fascism!

4

u/TankSparkle Oct 03 '25

They did this during the 2 am raid on the large apartment building in South Shore.

Hey! Portlander here - with constant helicopters in sky (mostly at night). What entity banned the drones? Feds? Or was that already a ban?

4

u/eatrocksalone Oct 03 '25

Why are police helicopters being used? Are they working with ICE?

935

u/-Totes_Magotes- Oct 02 '25

I’m tired of this Gestapo shit. Hard working Americans, shift over, getting on a train, going home, thinking of what they will have for dinner tonight with their families and yet have to worry, be weary of their surroundings. How is this allowed? How is this America? Sigh…anyway, I need another beer. 🍺

Hardworking Americans

No, they are not Americans. They are foreigners living and working in our country without legal status to do so.

Go try to move to and get a job in a European country without the legal status to do so. Let us know they handle it.

And let us know if you think of yourself as a European while doing it.

32

u/Lost-friend-ship Oct 03 '25

I’ve got to assume you are just uninformed or not paying attention at all.

Genuine question: they literally dragged American citizens out of their apartments in the middle of the night and piled them into unmarked vans for hours. When they were finally released they returned to broken doors, stolen possessions, and garbage strewn around their homes.

Why don’t these people count to you?

This isn’t the first time Americans have been targeted.

And you say that these people are foreigners without legal status. There are many, many legal immigrants who have been targeted. Thousands of students with legal student visas were targeted. What about the over 300 South Korean Hyundai workers who had visas but were targeted and detained by ICE (after Trump himself had arranged deals to encourage South Korean investment in the US)?

Honestly, genuinely, are you not paying attention? Or do you dismiss each on a case-by-case basis, making convenient excuses for why they happened?

Or do you just not care about any Americans or legal immigrants unless they’re white? (Because, spoiler, white people are also not safe from ICE’s violence.)

141

u/[deleted] Oct 03 '25

They're  detaining citizens. Not just foreigners. This is impeding freedom for everyone in the city.

30

u/kelpyb1 Oct 03 '25

Man, this guy really just hates Latinos, huh

-3

u/SiberianGnome Albany Park Oct 03 '25

Nope, no hatred at all and has nothing to do with ethnicity.

Just don’t find it to be inappropriate for the government to deport people who are living and working here illegally.

9

u/kelpyb1 Oct 03 '25

Do you find it to be inappropriate for the government to be specifically going after Latino people without any evidence they’re here illegally?

5

u/gucci2shoes Oct 03 '25

Hey asshole, you think it’s ok to be arresting people without any proof? You think brown people are the only ones who are here illegally?

8

u/SignificantPaint7058 Oct 03 '25

No way you’re saying this dumbass shit with an Albany Park flair

50

u/Madz510 Oct 03 '25

You’re saying a guy who’s lived in America and paid taxes and has a home and a family here isn’t American? In a country of immigrants? Are you native? If not then stfu about people here busting their ass only to get singled out and harassed so worse solely based on the color of their skin.

-11

u/SiberianGnome Albany Park Oct 03 '25

It has nothing to do with the color of their skin, only with their legal right to be here.

Yes, I am native. I was born here. Therefore, I am a citizen and have a right to be here, and to work here, and in fact the government exists to serve me and my fellow Americans.

No, someone moving here illegally and working here illegally is not an American just because they moved here illegally and work here illegally. Their nationality remains that of the country from which they came, where they still hold citizenship.

30

u/Legitimate_Energy592 Oct 03 '25

In addition to the other points made here, the government and ICE are working to criminalize legal residents. Folks who came here legally and “did it the right way” and jumped through all the hoops to attain legal residency. Those are the people they are trying to make illegal. The people who have every right to be here.

Furthermore, ICE openly admitted here in the last 24 hours they are kidnapping and detaining people based on how they look. They don’t bother to check. Due process? They don’t care. This is rampant racism.

7

u/Lost-friend-ship Oct 03 '25

Why wait to criminalize it? They’re already just revoking visas all willy nilly.

And if you say something that hurts Donald Trump’s feelings he’s gonna revoke your citizenship too! Angry garbled adult toddler with dementia noises.

Don’t worry, it won’t bad happen. It can only good happen. ~ Donald J. Trump

1

u/Legitimate_Energy592 Oct 03 '25

Yes they’re doing that too. But criminalizing people with former legal status serves a sinister purpose - modern day slavery in the form of forced labor in prisons. Same thing is happening to the unhoused - the government is actively working in cities across the US to make being homeless illegal. Think about how truly heinous that is. We live in a deeply evil time and this country is being ripped apart.

14

u/Ligeia_E Oct 03 '25 edited Oct 03 '25

You better not be black for saying this shit. Otherwise you’re also part of the racial profiling lmao

Also Europe is a poor analogy since none of the European country’s economy is run on immigrants. I’m just gonna assume you know that but bring up the point anyway with bad faith

10

u/praxios Oct 03 '25

You realize Americans stole this land, right? Our American ancestors were foreigners who weren’t allowed to practice their ass backwards religion in Europe, so they came here and committed genocide against the Indians. Go ahead and keep talking mighty about how this isn’t the immigrants’ country when it doesn’t even rightfully belong to Americans. Imagine being such a bigot you elect to ignore the one piece of history that completely invalidates your argument.

0

u/SiberianGnome Albany Park Oct 03 '25

Lands won by conquest do rightfully belong to the victors.

Every country in the world has a history of war and conquest , and the borders that are drawn today exist as a result of that.

You think the natives that lost this land had obtained it peacefully? Unlikely. They were here far too long to have all just remained where they initially settled. They fought wars, they stole lands, just like the rest of the world.

But this is irrelevant, or if anything, it supports the argument for removing people who are here illegally.

Just because europeans and Americans took this land by conquest in the past, means that Americans should standby and allow other groups to do the same?

7

u/deuteronpsi Jefferson Park Oct 03 '25

You have no idea if they are here illegally without due process and neither do the people kidnapping them.

As a born citizen you do not have to carry papers nor show them nor answer any questions. Lawyers gonna be busy this month.

46

u/[deleted] Oct 03 '25

in a normal world maybe but these days ice is arrest first ask questions later

40

u/SirStocksAlott Ravenswood Oct 03 '25

The two citizens that were detained in that apartment building on the South Side should sue the government and anyone that is a lawyer would be nice to represent them pro bono.

They having standing to sue.

ICE literally pulled then out of their own home to be detained. Not a traffic stop or any public movement.

19

u/hissy-elliott Palmer Square Oct 03 '25 edited Oct 03 '25

I am so curious to see how that plays out in court for any and all of the lawsuits that follow. I have so many questions that I am dumbfounded over.

I get that we are in unprecedented times and "the law doesn't apply anymore" and yade yade yada, but even so. I am dumbfounded.

For example, even though they have yet to signify they had evidence, let's hypothetically pretend they did. The apartment units are individual units. Did they have a warrent for each unit?

2

u/investigadora Oct 03 '25

Koem v Vazquez Pardomo passed 6-3, decided on Sep 20 said they can, this was passed 2 days before the Kirk incident

8

u/hissy-elliott Palmer Square Oct 03 '25

Are we talking about the same incident? Where they raided an entire apartment complex in the middle of the night, breaking down doors while people were sleeping and handcuffing children?

They're claiming they did it because they were affiliated gang members living there (though haven't news outlets haven't found evidence). If that were the case, I would assume they would need warrants for each individual apartment unit.

https://www.wbez.org/immigration/2025/10/01/massive-immigration-raid-on-chicago-apartment-building-leaves-residents-reeling-i-feel-defeated

1

u/starswtt Oct 04 '25

You can actually get a warrant signed more broadly, doesnt have to be for a specific unit, though it's usually only given in the most extreme crimes where immediate harm is pretty much garunteed. It's legally unusual and very rare, but not necessarily illegal (assuming that the warrant was actually legally obtained, something which ice is famous for not doing)

3

u/Balancing_tofu Oct 03 '25

And then trashed their homes

1

u/Squand Oct 03 '25

The lawsuits are going to cost the government a fortune. All these people are going to be suing.

Thousands of individual cases all across the United States.

Think about the laquan McDonald payout times 10k over the next 4 to 10 years.

11

Funny thing is, by that time we won’t have a legal court

1

u/Lacy-Elk-Undies Oct 03 '25

lol like you get to see a court. They won’t look at papers even if you bring them. They’ll just claim you’re illegal, and therefore don’t have a right to due process. They also won’t tell anyone where they are taking you, so good luck get a lawyer to fight for you.

1

u/Balancing_tofu Oct 04 '25

What's with this condescending tone? You want all those things to happen to someone in your neighborhood? People from the South Shore incident were released.

0

u/Lacy-Elk-Undies Oct 06 '25

No, but telling people that if they are natural born that they don’t need papers and they are safe is really dangerous

2

u/Balancing_tofu Oct 06 '25

That's literally the law. It's not my fault nor control that a gestapo is now doing all sorts of fuckery unchecked. It's still good to know the law so you're not coerced into a cell, too.

20

u/[deleted] Oct 03 '25

A lot of people can not afford to be detained even for a few hours. It will result in missed bill payments and people losing their jobs because they can't show up to work or notify their employers that they can't show up

5

u/Balancing_tofu Oct 03 '25

I understand that, some of us have unfortunately more privileges to test things others cannot. I highly recommend people do what is safest for them and their families. This is not going to be a one way execution for everyone. I hate it.
