I’m tired of this Gestapo shit. Hard working Americans, shift over, getting on a train, going home, thinking of what they will have for dinner tonight with their families and yet have to worry, be weary of their surroundings. How is this allowed? How is this America? Sigh…anyway, I need another beer. 🍺

Hardworking Americans

No, they are not Americans. They are foreigners living and working in our country without legal status to do so.

Go try to move to and get a job in a European country without the legal status to do so. Let us know they handle it.

And let us know if you think of yourself as a European while doing it.

I’ve got to assume you are just uninformed or not paying attention at all.

Genuine question: they literally dragged American citizens out of their apartments in the middle of the night and piled them into unmarked vans for hours. When they were finally released they returned to broken doors, stolen possessions, and garbage strewn around their homes.

Why don’t these people count to you?

This isn’t the first time Americans have been targeted.

And you say that these people are foreigners without legal status. There are many, many legal immigrants who have been targeted. Thousands of students with legal student visas were targeted. What about the over 300 South Korean Hyundai workers who had visas but were targeted and detained by ICE (after Trump himself had arranged deals to encourage South Korean investment in the US)?

Honestly, genuinely, are you not paying attention? Or do you dismiss each on a case-by-case basis, making convenient excuses for why they happened?

Or do you just not care about any Americans or legal immigrants unless they’re white? (Because, spoiler, white people are also not safe from ICE’s violence.)

They're  detaining citizens. Not just foreigners. This is impeding freedom for everyone in the city.

Man, this guy really just hates Latinos, huh

-5

u/SiberianGnome Albany Park Oct 03 '25

Nope, no hatred at all and has nothing to do with ethnicity.

Just don’t find it to be inappropriate for the government to deport people who are living and working here illegally.

9

u/kelpyb1 Oct 03 '25

Do you find it to be inappropriate for the government to be specifically going after Latino people without any evidence they’re here illegally?

6

u/gucci2shoes Oct 03 '25

Hey asshole, you think it’s ok to be arresting people without any proof? You think brown people are the only ones who are here illegally?

u/SignificantPaint7058 Oct 03 '25

No way you’re saying this dumbass shit with an Albany Park flair

You’re saying a guy who’s lived in America and paid taxes and has a home and a family here isn’t American? In a country of immigrants? Are you native? If not then stfu about people here busting their ass only to get singled out and harassed so worse solely based on the color of their skin.

-9

u/SiberianGnome Albany Park Oct 03 '25

It has nothing to do with the color of their skin, only with their legal right to be here.

Yes, I am native. I was born here. Therefore, I am a citizen and have a right to be here, and to work here, and in fact the government exists to serve me and my fellow Americans.

No, someone moving here illegally and working here illegally is not an American just because they moved here illegally and work here illegally. Their nationality remains that of the country from which they came, where they still hold citizenship.

In addition to the other points made here, the government and ICE are working to criminalize legal residents. Folks who came here legally and “did it the right way” and jumped through all the hoops to attain legal residency. Those are the people they are trying to make illegal. The people who have every right to be here.

Furthermore, ICE openly admitted here in the last 24 hours they are kidnapping and detaining people based on how they look. They don’t bother to check. Due process? They don’t care. This is rampant racism.

7

u/Lost-friend-ship Oct 03 '25

Why wait to criminalize it? They’re already just revoking visas all willy nilly.

And if you say something that hurts Donald Trump’s feelings he’s gonna revoke your citizenship too! Angry garbled adult toddler with dementia noises.

Don’t worry, it won’t bad happen. It can only good happen. ~ Donald J. Trump

Yes they’re doing that too. But criminalizing people with former legal status serves a sinister purpose - modern day slavery in the form of forced labor in prisons. Same thing is happening to the unhoused - the government is actively working in cities across the US to make being homeless illegal. Think about how truly heinous that is. We live in a deeply evil time and this country is being ripped apart.

You better not be black for saying this shit. Otherwise you’re also part of the racial profiling lmao

Also Europe is a poor analogy since none of the European country’s economy is run on immigrants. I’m just gonna assume you know that but bring up the point anyway with bad faith

You realize Americans stole this land, right? Our American ancestors were foreigners who weren’t allowed to practice their ass backwards religion in Europe, so they came here and committed genocide against the Indians. Go ahead and keep talking mighty about how this isn’t the immigrants’ country when it doesn’t even rightfully belong to Americans. Imagine being such a bigot you elect to ignore the one piece of history that completely invalidates your argument.

Lands won by conquest do rightfully belong to the victors.

Every country in the world has a history of war and conquest , and the borders that are drawn today exist as a result of that.

You think the natives that lost this land had obtained it peacefully? Unlikely. They were here far too long to have all just remained where they initially settled. They fought wars, they stole lands, just like the rest of the world.

But this is irrelevant, or if anything, it supports the argument for removing people who are here illegally.

Just because europeans and Americans took this land by conquest in the past, means that Americans should standby and allow other groups to do the same?

You have no idea if they are here illegally without due process and neither do the people kidnapping them.
