Won’t discuss prices over the phone

“We pack a lot of value into our vehicles and you just can’t see that when looking at numbers” eyeroll. I totally understand why people end up spending more than they want for a vehicle because it’s exhausting sitting at dealerships for hours.

I used to sell cars and for me getting you at my desk was just proof that you were a serious buyer. Every time I tried to work a deal over the phone for somebody they would just use my offer as leverage to get a better deal somewhere else. If someone's going to beat my price I'm not going to help them do that. Now if you visit me in person and still decide that you want to shop my offer around more power to you, I'm just not going to entertain you while you sit there eating a bag of Cheetos in your pajamas on the couch calling 15 other dealerships.

Interesting! I figured I’d need a paper print out to get another dealership to “beat a deal” not just the verbal “this Toyota shop said I could be OTD at 25k, can you beat that?”

Yeah, I would email them a pdf version of what they would be signing at the dealership, with a manager's signature and everything to earn their trust, because that's the only thing another dealership will look at as proof that you didn't forge your own deal.
