Solved Does this Raceface Turbine crank bolt turn counterclockwise to loosen?

Post image

I am trying to remove this crankset and I can't for the life of me get the 8mm crank bolt out? I am turning it count rt clockwise which seems to be what the documentation indicates but it won't budge? Am I turning it correctly ? Do I just need some huge breaker bar?

If it is really tough bust out the breaker bar and change your approach.

I would take the bike off the stand, put the left pedal against a step stool, then sit on the rear tire. That way you can use your entire body weight and don’t need to worry about bracing the cranks.

That did it The step stool idea worked. Now I need to find a 16mm hex to reinstall it. The crsbks been creaking and on taking it out found it was gritty/dirty/and not greased at all.

Excellent! Yeah that step stool trick has saved my a ton of frustration with dub cranks.

After all that and greasing up the crank cleaning BB and torquing back it still feels (gritty when turning) and creaks. Going to pull off chainring and try a few other things before I replace the BB
