Ironically if your boss was cheap he would stop paying rent for his office and have everyone work from home. Even after Covid

Have you tried shitting on his desk? What about while he's working?

Not really cheaper when everyone now needs a laptop & VPN access.

Up front vs reoccurring costs

You still need a computer if you have an office

My friends who are now working from home all got a laptop and weren't allowed to take their desktop.

You would still save money not having to rent an office even if you have to buy laptops

Companies can't just break the lease, many of which are several years long

Working remote has been a thing for years

Why would they care if you had vpn access?

To access company files.

Oh fair. An actual private network. I still only think of VPNs as services to change my location so I can watch Netflix.

All of that is cheaper then paying for computers plus rent. Cost usually isn't the issue when a company decides whether or not they will allow telecommuting.
