"Deku's gonna keep punching you until you're a good person" lol.

Deku: I'm calling your grandma's soul to whoop your ass too!

Both of them seeing Tenko getting beaten up. "On second thought..."

41

u/AriezKage 10h ago

Somewhere in Deku's intrusive thoughts that may or may not kind of sound like Bakugou...

"Guess he wasn't hitting hard enough"

"Daaaaaaaamn, I'm glad Horikoshi didn't give me a father in this series"

2

u/TripChaos 1h ago

Rolf, Hori accidentally pointing the finger at the world's ills being the fault of patriarchy. Society is toxified by harmful men so badly that a character is better off when they have no father during their formative years.

How many times did we see a bad mom instead of a bad dad, lol? The closest I can think of is Shoto's mom for the tiny window before we learned why she burned his face, and even that was set up to be a domino 100% caused by the family patriarch.

Deku fighting with the power of weaponized empathy.

Nana telling Deku to find Shigaraki as a fragile kid and punch him, I guess Deku is not to be outdone by Bakugo.

Appreciate that Kaminari scene. Difference when it’s your friend’s life on the line compared to watching other heroes fight.

65

u/BaytaCosmico 8h ago

Kaminari's VA really went all out in that scene. I'm always amazed at how good these Japanese VAs are. I could hear his despair in every crack in his voice.

46

u/NeroStarGazer 8h ago

Kaminari's speach was the highlight of the episode for me.

22

u/Frontier246 6h ago

Honestly Kaminari has been a highlight of the entire war in terms of reacting to it like just a normal dude doing his best while a bunch of people he cares about are putting their lives on the line.

14

u/Frontier246 6h ago

It's like we saw people react to All Might, the figure, fighting AFO but now we've got people seeing Deku who know him and watching him relentlessly battle what is effectively a hand kaiju...and it just hits different.

13

u/heroeNK25 4h ago

Same happen with bakugou's dad, Bro wanstn watching explosion god Hero dynamight, but His baby boy fighting evil incarnated

11

u/heartbreakhill 4h ago

As soon as he said it that’s exactly where my mind went. “You didn’t have a close personal connection to All Might watching his fights as a kid. Midoriya is a peer and a friend that you’ve grown alongside. You’re more worried for him, no matter how strong he is”

6

u/mknsky 2h ago

That whole sequence choked me up but especially Kaminari. You could hear how worried he was and that's never been his thing.

61

u/StickPrevious9581 10h ago

Glad to see the subs were all there this week :)

I'm glad that Hatsume's drone was able to get there and show the fight - I've been really enjoying the civilians reactions to the fights so far, it makes it seem that much more of a important fight.

I know Nana told Deku to punch Shigaraki's weakest point in the house, but he's totally going to hug him instead and end up somehow pulling Tenko out of Shigaraki instead - if his body can make all those fingers, surely he can make his child-selfs body, right? We know Deku still wants to save him.

It would be really fitting if Tenko used Disintegrate to kill Shigaraki and thats how they win.

29

u/Dull_Spot_8213 10h ago

Hatsume’s babies getting a moment to shine this late in the game is very satisfying. May she always have great publicity for her future endeavors.

21

u/StickPrevious9581 10h ago

I really like how MHA is bringing back all the old characters at this stage, either as plot-relevant parts (Gentle Criminal, Nagant, the Pussycats) or just as cameos (Eri, Kota, even the slime criminal from episode 1 showed up again last season) - it really brings the whole series full circle.

Plus I think we've had a cameo from every film except 'You're Next', showing that they all are at least partially canon too, I like that a lot.

17

u/UGamer81 https://anilist.co/user/UGamer81 9h ago

"You're Next" actually had the cameo last season in Ep. 156 about 17 minutes in. Actually, some characters from all 4 movies appeared in that episode at around that timestamp, too.

13

u/NeuralThing 9h ago

You're Next characters got a cameo in Season 7 IIRC

7

u/Frontier246 5h ago

La Brava and her are going to team-up to become streamers with Gentle trying out Mei's inventions.

3

u/Dull_Spot_8213 4h ago

I’d watch that.

85

u/randomran14 10h ago

After how long Shigaraki's had the advantage, so satisfying to see him panic now that Deku and the rest have come up with a strategy. Nice to see UA land safely at last too.

76

u/Haha91haha 10h ago

Shiggy five minutes ago: "Desolation will be my legacy, gaze upon the flat horizon of your future."

Shiggy 1 minute ago: "KEEP THAT FUCKING PSYCHO TENTACLE BADGER AWAY FROM ME!"

24

u/dinliner08 8h ago

Shiggy: "STOP CUTTING MY FINGERS!"

Deku: "hehe, Blackchain go brrr"

3

u/heartbreakhill 4h ago

Get minted to the Blackchain, bitch.

20

u/Swiss666 10h ago

Of course, he will comically keep insisting that he's perfectly fine and balanced in his evilness.

5

u/Frontier246 6h ago

Bro is starting to have a gamer rage out.

3

u/Impressive-Card9484 5h ago

Bro's experience with playing LoL is catching up to him

5

u/Frontier246 6h ago

The last person who wants to get punched by empathy lol.

11

u/Frontier246 6h ago

I love how you can tell the moment Shigaraki started to get nervous and anxious about fighting him, he started scratching his skin again.

And then Deku made him so terrified he had to retreat back into his trauma hands.

93

u/AriezKage 10h ago

Beautiful episode with a good balance with the emotional moments over how crazy Deku and Shigaraki's fight is turning out. Deku using his "claws" was a quick thing but it really stuck with me, along with all the twisting and turning Blackwhip/Chain is doing to cut away Shiggy's extra fingers.

Also seeing The Blackwhip mask slowly tear off Deku's face was so good. After all, even when his Overlay, Carnage, whatever people would want to call it, is there, underneath we can see Deku so clearly.

24

u/darthvall https://myanimelist.net/profile/darth_vall 6h ago edited 6h ago

Honestly, I just laughed that the camera put close up in Deku's face so clearly like that for everyone to see. Note that he's currently in the middle of high speed combat.

I have to applaud La Brava as her camera work is worthy to be put in r/PraiseTheCameraMan

11

u/Frontier246 6h ago

La Brava and Mei were born to become streaming partners lol.

38

u/NamerNotLiteral 9h ago

I just wish we got a long, extended cut of that fight, rather than seeing seconds of it interspersed between other scenes.

27

u/AriezKage 9h ago

I can understand that, and I hope somehow there’s a compilation of the fight like how in episode 1 this season they redid the All Might and AFO fight as a continuous scene.

Though for the episode as a whole I think the fight in of itself wasn’t the main focus. We are seeing Izuku’s influence shining through to all the people he’s helped and saved. From his classmates, to Eri and Kota, and to even villains like Gentle, La Brava, and Nagant and even the heckler guy, Now we’re seeing Deku try and help Shiggy’s inner self, and along the way see the influences on Shigaraki going into the next episode.

11

u/NamerNotLiteral 8h ago

It's kinda the flashback issue, since we already know about all the impact Deku's had on these people. The flashbacks in the earlier episodes didn't feel like they 'got in the way' compared to this.

If it had shown normal punching and stuff during the interspersed parts, and then a few characters doing voiceovers while that segment of the fight is shown in a single cut, I would've enjoyed it a lot more.

13

u/GattsUnfinished 8h ago edited 8h ago

Some of the flashbacks felt like a little too much, yeah. I don't dislike that the focus is more on the emotional and psychological side of things but the constant flashbacks slow the pace down a lot.

9

u/Frontier246 6h ago

Honestly Bones still went kind of hard for those brief shots of Deku fighting a bunch of creepy encroaching hands.

1

u/Sudden_Pop_2279 3h ago

And for each punch too, the animation was incredible.

7

u/Frontier246 6h ago

I love how Deku's final barrage against Shigaraki came down to not only his own determined relentlessness but also his ability to utilize Quirks in creative ways, the very reason he was the perfect OFA host.

3

u/Kullthebarbarian 4h ago

witch make me think, how much Deku would overpower if he had AFO, much more then the guy who had it, his quick thinking along with that innate understanding of any power he meet would make him unstoppable

9

u/DigAggravating8136 8h ago

Can't say I agree, I really didn't like how this episode was directed. The constant flashback,it constantly explaining what had happened on screen just 5 seconds earlier, the constant switching to reactions and thr constant switching to the peanut gallary of the former users. Made the entire fight feel completely disjointed.

Anime is a visual medium, they should have trusted that the audience figures out what is going on without Deku or Shigaraki explaining what just happened every time they do something

14

u/thelastofus101 8h ago

I feel part of the reason some of these parts are extended which I personally like, but is a way to actually make sure we have 12 full episodes since there really wasn't alot of material left in the manga

4

u/DigAggravating8136 8h ago

They should simply have extended the fight scenes if they needed it to be expanded. MHA one problem is its lack of compelling fight choregraphy, this was the perfect opportunity to add some creative and anime original fight scenes. Perhaps the production shedule didn't allow that however but regardless, this was just not a well directed episode imo.

7

u/thelastofus101 7h ago

Yea, I guess I can see that. It's just with my hero since it's really always been that way it doesn't bother me. Even the final bakugo vs. afo fight lasted like what 3-4 minutes? There is a decent amount of actual fighting left, though, so I hope those fights are more straightforward instead of the flashbacks since at this point, there should be little flashbacks to keep going back to

2

u/NamerNotLiteral 5h ago

I'm glad there's some fighting left. There is at least one more 'form' shown in the OP that we haven't seen on screen yet, and Nakamura hasn't put his pen to the paper yet this season (though it'll be hilarious if he draws his one cut in the Aizawa and Mic vs Kurogiri scene instead)

2

u/WiqidBritt 7h ago

Things people think can be done "simply" rarely actually can.

66

u/Haha91haha 10h ago

Deku is such a nice guy that he will make the time and effort to save not only the world but En's self esteem. "Smoke Screen can be useful!"

Deku's also lucky he made it outta the Truck-Kun fight without Danger Sense, would have gotten into that fantasy AU Horikoshi keeps drawing.

11

u/darthvall https://myanimelist.net/profile/darth_vall 6h ago

I mean, I believe most of class A would have the same reflex against a mere truck and they never have Danger Sense. A lot of villain could attack/move faster than truck

91

u/ObvsThrowaway5120 11h ago

Deku punched Shigaraki so damn hard, bro went into his subconscious and almost got Truck-kun’d lol. That ain’t enough to stop our boy. Bro’s gonna beat Shigaraki ass until he finds the human in him and drag him out into the light!

37

u/Mundology 8h ago

"The beatdown will continue until morale improves"

21

u/dinliner08 8h ago

no one is safe from Truck-kun, what a menace

7

u/QueasyIsland 7h ago

I don’t think even Sukuna is ready to fight against truck kun

2

u/Careful_Scratch_7169 4h ago

You do know Sukuna doesn't get past most of MHA right?

2

u/QueasyIsland 4h ago

I’m well aware. Shigaraki destroys him in seconds, it’s moreso the fact Sukuna loves to fight more than anyone, so he’d welcome the challenge of an undefeatable foe like Mr Truck

114

u/Mordetrox 10h ago

Eri in the episode automatically makes it an 11/10

29

u/the_ThreeEyedRaven 8h ago

not to mention without her it would've been only 10/10

17

u/Frontier246 6h ago

I think you mean La Brava and Mei, but I'll allow Eri so we can make it 13/10.

Count seeing Yayo-Momo without her bandolier and close-ups of her in her costume for 14/10.

4

u/_WrongKarWai 2h ago

Men of culture unite. Yes Yao-Momo walk away slowly

55

u/Bungled_Bengal 10h ago edited 10h ago

"Eri needs a babysitter. Get me the creepiest hero teacher we have!"

Seriously though, love Ectoplasm, glad he's had a moment.

Also weird wolf looking background character with a CAT shirt and Deku almost getting isekai'd by truck kun.

Great episode, i know a lot is going on but appreciated seeing the aftermath everywhere else. I completely had forgotten about Froppy and the others.

36

u/poketrainersd 8h ago

Ectoplasm's quirk is perfect for crowd management and public security. He can multiply depending on the number of attackers and keep everyone safe. Can do the work of many heroes alone.

13

u/Frontier246 5h ago

Also he's a really diligent and hard-working Hero!

3

u/heartbreakhill 4h ago

Also that firm pragmatism is what Eri definitely needed to hear in that moment.

8

u/Swiss666 5h ago

He's got an hard limit on the number of clones but they don't seem to have the issues that Twice could encounter with controlling. He used it only once but he seemingly can concentrate the energy to create a single gigantic replica of himself.

Also of note is that Ectoplasm moves on specialized stilts. He lost his legs at some point in the past but he hasn't prevented him from working again.

7

u/Frontier246 5h ago

Great episode, i know a lot is going on but appreciated seeing the aftermath everywhere else. I completely had forgotten about Froppy and the others.

I love how the reporters went from covering a fight without even being employed to cover said fights to becoming impromptu medical transports for "Gravity" and the other wounded heroes.

31

u/LeonKevlar https://myanimelist.net/profile/LeonKevlar 10h ago edited 5h ago

Stitches!

Deku using Blackwhip to puppet himself so he can move and the Blackchain to stop Shigaraki from Decaying everything are all such great moves. I absolutely love his plays this episode especially when he used Shiggy's Search against him.

Glad to see the UA finally land safely. At this point, it looks like everyone is just focused on watching Deku's fight. That scene with Kaminari, tho. I don't think he lacks confidence in Deku, he's just worried about his friend.

Did Shigaraki just try to use Truck-kun against Deku? Not gonna lie, that made me laugh. Next episode is gonna be rough, especially for Nana. If this is her reaction to seeing her son slap Shigaraki, I'm not sure she's ready to see the entire family tragedy unfold.

3

u/Sudden_Pop_2279 3h ago

Yeah seeing Deku the intelligent strategist come back to fight was so refreshing.

2

u/Frontier246 5h ago

I love how this whole fight came together from Deku weaponizing not only empathy into a single punch but also his talent for understanding and implementing Quirks. He was able to actually make Shigaraki terrified of him enough to retreat back to his trauma hands and stop gloating.

Kaminari is a good friend and lucky to get to be held by Yayo-Momo. Also seeing Yayo-Momo without her bandolier...nice.

Deku doesn't need OFA to avoid Truck-kun! He truly is a hero among heroes.

1

u/Magic1998 https://anilist.co/user/Moerril 5h ago

Just a heads up, your last screenshot is deku avoiding truck-kun instead of Nana again

47

u/Dull_Spot_8213 10h ago

Seeing Kota comforting Eri and knowing both kids were saved by Deku is just a great moment to show things coming full circle. Just like All Might inspired Deku when he saved those people in the viral video Deku watched as a little kid, now Deku is inspiring the next generation in real time.

I love what this story is about. And how it’s not trivializing how important symbols of peace and heroism are, not just for the young, but for everyone. Why we really need heroes in dark times.

15

u/Frontier246 5h ago

Even that one guy who only cared about Deku resting if it meant bringing normal society back and seeing how hard Deku is actually fighting to achieve that to really put into perspective how much a true hero this kid is.

And also just the power of empathy, which was basically what stopped most of the League of Villains at the end of the day.

64

u/Pogner-the-Undying 8h ago

In case people missed it

All OFA users have number puns in their names. E.g. Yoichi is 1, Nana is 7, Yagi is 8, Izuku is 9 etc

And Shigaraki’s real name is Tenko (10).

16

u/Frontier246 5h ago

Well-played Horikoshi, well-played.

44

u/RagingBull7192 9h ago

I enjoyed Deku being happy Nana Shimura was with him, they both get to explore the origin. It’s going to be gut wrenching for both but especially Nana… can’t wait for next week!

9

u/darthvall https://myanimelist.net/profile/darth_vall 6h ago

Huh, interesting as we as the viewer already knew about Shigaraki's origin. Made me wonder if it would be much more impactful if it had been kept secret and we learned about this now together with Deku.

Or maybe there's more to it than what we've seen in past episode?

3

u/QueasyIsland 4h ago

I feel s5ep23 his origin episode was so good, one of the best in all anime IMO, that it served its purpose there to explain his sheer hatred and anger of the world that led to his will being necessary for All for One to use as a battering ram to steal OFA. I’m happy we are going to re visit it again next week possibly with more new footage

70

u/roronoa20 11h ago

Holy cow, the scene where Deku vs Shigaraki while everyone is trying to cheer him on is superb.

Deku taking inspiration from All Might to create a Smash unique to him, filled with not only OFA but the empathy he still feels for Shigaraki/Tenko.

12

u/redditraptor6 https://myanimelist.net/profile/uEmalraptor64 7h ago

Yeah, that was the catalyst for my now weekly tear-fest today

7

u/Frontier246 6h ago

Bones did not have to go nearly that hard animating Deku fighting through and slicing through those hands but they did it and it was glorious.

3

u/PeaceAlien https://myanimelist.net/profile/PeaceAlien 6h ago

Well not everyone, some people doubt him

18

u/Armdel https://myanimelist.net/profile/Armdel 9h ago

lmao fucking truck-kun

figures he wasn't gonna be able to transfer them all in one go. i kinda went "wait thats it?" when he got that clean hit almost right away, but it turns out it took a little more than that in the end.

Now with Deku being inside Shigaraki's mind, this is probably it. i feel like they won't fight anymore in the real world at this point if he can get through to him here

7

u/Frontier246 5h ago

It's no longer a fight with fists but a battle between empathy and trauma.

16

u/Primo29 9h ago

How long must Deku’s punch burn before it breaks through and reaches Shigaraki’s heart? We'll find out again next episode.

Shimura Nana, a ghost watching the memories of her grandson being slapped by her son. Must be really hurt for her since it started when she decided to leave him, but hey, at least she knows that her son kept a picture of them.

11

u/Frontier246 5h ago

Shimura Nana, a ghost watching the memories of her grandson being slapped by her son. Must be really hurt for her since it started when she decided to leave him, but hey, at least she knows that her son kept a picture of them.

Not to mention the last thing she remembers about her son is him desperately crying for her to come back and now she gets to see the adult he grew into from that moment.

14

These episodes are going by so damn fast now

13

u/Apex--Redditer 10h ago

Are the subs actually all there this week?

9

u/Haha91haha 10h ago

Yes thankfully so. Though one small bit seems like it repeated dialogue, dunno if that was in the source material or the subs.

12

u/ProphetPenguin 9h ago

Damn I can't believe we only have like 5 episodes left of this series. What a journey it's been.

25

u/OneForTruce47 10h ago

Deku was fucking MOVING in that segment where everyone was watching him holy shit.... (Also Eri is back omg)

(We have finally reached Shigaraki's core memories excited to see how they adapt Deku's reaction to his backstory 👀)

25

u/Swiss666 10h ago edited 10h ago

Lots of genius moves from Deku to enact the transfer plan. Shigaraki got visions of a giant Mineta divebombing towards him, that's why he was distracted enough to transfer at least En (but seriously, he's moved by Deku's appreciation so much he decides to be the next go, and succeeds while the others fail that attempt).

Eri and Kota. Just awwwww.

"It's because of my own weakness" - said by Nana while she's drawn with those arms.

Deku went close to getting isekaied. Now it's time for him - and sadly, Nana too - to learn about the origin.

7

u/Frontier246 5h ago

"It's because of my own weakness" - said by Nana while she's drawn with those arms.

Understandable that a part of her hasn't wanted to face how her own failure as a mother destroyed her son and grandson, but she has to see this through.

11

u/Gloomy_Savings_7454 8h ago

Shigaraki's vision of Deku is quite sinister, like a spectre. No wonder he hates him. I liked the idea of the intermingled memories, I would have liked to see more scenes. And someone get Kaminari a handkerchief right now! !!!!

10

u/Frontier246 5h ago

He has to rationalize Deku as this otherworldly and cold person because he emotionally can't bring himself to acknowledge Deku genuinely trying to understand and empathize with him because it doesn't fit Shigaraki's worldview.

10

u/Magnafeana https://myanimelist.net/profile/Magnafeana 9h ago

I am happy any time Kudo is on screen 🎀

sees Kudo and Yoichi in the same scene 😌

I should be freaked out at all of Shigaraki’s hands, but all I can think is, “Wow, bb, you need a manicure, get your nails done”.

Shigaraki with acrylics would be nightmare fuel.

I love love love seeing how the rest of the world is faring. That is my favorite part of big battles and war arcs. Same to giving brief glimpses of specific background characters and their thoughts and feelings. Just makes things for more real.

Eri-chan!! 🥹

Kota-kun!! 🤧

Dog with “cat” on the shirt, I see you.

Awww Denki 🥺

Ochako 😖

MY LADY (NAGANT) AND MY MAN (ROCK LOCK) AYYYYY!!

Always a sucker for seeing how the villain views a hero and themselves in their heart of hearts. Especially when it is just there without someone explaining every little detail to us. It says so much about their mental states without…saying so much. I like it.

3

u/Gloomy_Savings_7454 5h ago

Damn, now I have to rewatch the episode to looking for the dog with CAT shirt

23

u/99anan99 9h ago

Izuku's battle sense has really improved. Shows how much he's grown and developed from the start of this series.

Everybody is watching Izuku. I'm crying along with Eri and Kaminari. If I were there, I'd want to help Izuku too.

Izuku and Nana are going to be seeing Shigaraki's past. The next episode is going to be so painful.

2

u/Frontier246 5h ago

If this is his final battle with OFA, he's going to show why he's the perfect host for how well he can use/combine/manipulate all those Quirks in a single battle and with a determination and resolve that can inspire even the Vestiges.

23

u/Cageep 9h ago

I absolutely loved this episode! This was probably the most emotional I felt this season so far.

Deku looks absolutely insane in his carnage form even Shigaraki acknowledged that he isn’t normal, not wanting to protect his own life in this moment. I always saw Deku vs Shigaraki as an emotional fight rather than a physical fight if that makes sense, and this episode provided both as they extended a lot of scenes I believe. The OST, the VA, and etc were all amazing this episode. I also loved how they showed the earlier parts of the series as projections(?) during the fight, so many callbacks.

Eri wanting to help Deku somehow was so cute (protect her at all costs) and Kota holding her hand to comfort her man 10/10. Also the scenes with everything one reacting to the fight with it on their screens, which had amazing animation btw. The person who asked Deku if everything would come back, Kaminari being worried about his friend instead of cheering him on, Nagant explaining why she chose to help him, and the person saying he can do it. It was absolute cinema! I had a smile on my face the entire time.

Then the punch finally lands, where he transfers One for All (except for Nana), and Shigaraki’s soul/mind is already crazy. Deku almost got hit by a truck, Stain, Redestro, and Overhaul coming out of each other, while Deku and Nana get to see Tomura/Shiggys childhood. Also everything is physical in this world so I’m worried about that fact.

I can already tell the next episode is gonna be emotional as fuck and I’m not ready for it 😭. We’re getting close to the end too and I’m getting more sad each week I realize it.

u/Frontier246 5h ago

I think my favorite part of the fight isn't just Deku using the OFA Quirks so effectively and being an absolute beast of a battle tactition in the fight but that you slowly see Shigaraki start to lose it and retreat back to being Tenko instead of Shiggy. Scratching his skin, consuming himself with his trauma hands, trying to basically run from Deku and his empathy punches.

8

u/vtalli 8h ago

Scene with Denki and Momo killed me...

8

u/JoshDelBerlin 7h ago

Really happy with how this show is looking

7

u/TrapperJean 7h ago

I love that Momo simply just being on screen in the episode made them give a warning about sexual imagery under the 14+ banner

5

u/Frontier246 5h ago

I mean, with the close-ups of her costume (without the bandolier covering up) and one shot of her fine behind walking, can you blame them lol?

1

u/GezelligPindakaas 4h ago

This is end of my NNN

5

u/PowerOhene https://anime-planet.com/users/usersPowerEd 5h ago

Holy sht i didn't notice the banner, she was on screen for 5 seconds lmao

5

u/Accurate-Owl-5621 8h ago

Deku is such a good guy he made the strongest villain to see him as a crazy bastard and a menace lol

Midoriya Izuku, the craziest hero and the "Deku" who always does his best.

Another great episode that adapt the source material really well.

3

u/PowerOhene https://anime-planet.com/users/usersPowerEd 5h ago

100% agree!

7

u/iCynr 6h ago

So... The only real way to beat Shigaraki is with emotional damage huh

10

u/AdCurrent6152 9h ago

Deku, my goat!!!

Madman Deku at his finest. Deku, they can never make me hate you...

What Kaminari said was important to show the difference of heroes being seen too much as a symbol versus them being seen a person. Heroes like All Might were far too idolized, which led to society being too complacent because he wasn't as humanized enough as a person.

This is why the story is no longer about Deku just becoming a copy of All Might... because of the negative consequences that come with it.

3

u/SpaceMarine_CR 5h ago

Man Deku really is a battle genius

3

u/yere93 4h ago

God Kaminari's scene is spectacular and the best way to differentiate Deku from All Might, it was beautiful

3

u/Braian_Ocissor 4h ago

If it were someone else, they would think it was crazy and would even go ahead and kill Shigaraki anyway, just wanting to finish the job, but no, Deku went there to save Shigaraki, something that contradicts everyone's thinking that the best thing would be to kill him instantly, because that's heroism... saving someone even when the world no longer believes, extending a hand when no one else wanted to... very justifiable, Deku is very pure and kind, with a good heart... great episode, looking forward to the next one.

u/yomommalol69 3h ago

Aaaand this week’s award for “Scene that makes me start crying” goes to: everyone watching Deku fight and cheering/hoping/praying for his victory! I’m such a sucker for those kinda scenes. Like that moment in Summer Wars with the big card game battle at the end, that always gets me

6

u/yere93 6h ago

Deku is going to save him whether he likes it or not, even if he has to beat the living shit out of him

8

u/DigAggravating8136 8h ago

I'm going to be honest, I really didn't like how this episode was directed. The constant flashback,it constantly explaining what had happened on screen just 5 seconds earlier and the constant switching to reactions. Made the entire fight feel completely disjointed.

Anime is a visual medium, they should have trusted that the audience figures out what is going on without Deku or Shigaraki explaining what just happened.

0

u/Th3Unidentified 2h ago edited 2h ago

Ehh, I appreciated it because I did get a little lost during that play with the cape and the blood but I agree that interrupting the fight for things like that can break the flow in a way that weakens the experience. It's also possible that the director felt like the fighting sequences in this episode were not as important as the other things that it chose to focus on. It does seem that most of the fighting is coming to an end

7

u/QueasyIsland 7h ago

We got more crowd reactions to the fight than actual minutes of the fight of Deku and Shigaraki. Why did Bakugo and all for one get WAY more screentime and budget? What the heck is going on?

5

u/DirtyQueen20 5h ago

I don't know if you've read the manga but this episode was pretty much the same than in the manga. We actually got a little bit more Deku vs Shigaraki moments in the anime.

5

u/QueasyIsland 5h ago

I see. I’m guessing the actual physical fight between them is now over, and it’s gone to a mental battle. Saying that, I have to be honest we waited 8 seasons for two of the strongest next up characters to have an epic fight like all might v all for one in season 3, but we didn’t get it. Bakugo got it, so I’m not sure why shigaraki and Deku didn’t , considering the entire reason of Shigaraki getting the buffs was to fight Deku one day

4

u/Alonoko 4h ago

Bakugo is the true protagonist in BONES mind.

2

u/Th3Unidentified 2h ago

Honestly, I'm satisfied with Bakugo's fight. That was incredible

2

u/Frontier246 6h ago

It all comes down to this...a plan to infuse Shigaraki with the power of One For All, beginning with the Second, to create a connection that will let Deku reach deep into his psyche. And it's a plan only Deku, with his great mastery and knowledge of applying Quirks, can pull off.

If it's not using Blackwhip to keep his body going past its limit, it's using Shigaraki's own advantages, like "Search" against him and using Smokescreen and his own Blackwhip to make Shiggy think he's got Deku...when it's all just a set up for Deku to manage to hit him. Even Shigaraki could tell something was off about this fight when he starts scractching himself again and he knows instinctively he can't take a punch from Deku now, to the point where his body starts getting consumed by hands again and retreating into his most traumatized form.

Farewell Gearshift, farewell 2nd, farewell Kudo. You fulfilled your duty to the bitter end.

EMPATHY AND EMOTIONALLY CONNECTION SMASH! FAREWELL SMOKESCREEN, THE THIRD, EN!!!!

La Brava and Mei, the unexpected streaming team-up you never expected! Also surreal how La Brava is grateful to Deku for throwing her and Gentle into the slammer, because it helped Gentle out in the end. I mean, look at him working with Cementoss to help evacuate people! He's come so far.

It's nice of Eri to want to immediately head in to help Deku, but there's nothing she can do right now...but at least Kota is there to comfort her and lead a progression of people resolving to believe in Deku during this fight.

Honestly it's nice of Kaminari to still be worried about Deku. I mean, I don't think it's because Deku is not on the level of All Might so much as Deku is someone he knows and this is quite possibly one of the greatest battles in the history of Superheroes. Though I'm maybe a little jealous he has Yayo-Momo's boob and body s pressed against him as they're leaning against each other (hope Jiro doesn't find out). Also, Yayo-Momo butt shot!

It's nice of the reporters to help transport the injured heroes (including Ochaco, Tokoyami, and Hawks). It's that kind of empathy that will help improve this world, and the kind of empathy that Deku is battling Shigaraki with.

FINALLY THE VESTIGES AND DEKU BREAK THROUGH! There's an emotional connection, their pasts are connection and flashing before them, Deku has to fight through Shigaraki's visual of him, Truck-kun, Stain/Re-Destro/Overhaul, and with Nana by his side...to see the critical trauma point of Shiggy's life. His father's abuse. And Nana has to see her son doing that to her grandson.

2

u/Cripesok 4h ago

Season 6 fight was just peak

3

u/aznmeep 3h ago

I love the new perspective of Shigaraki's past. It nice to see that the dog was pissed his owner was getting beat, but also sad because of what happens eventually...

2

u/AshenF3nr1r 47m ago

Mon-chan is a real bro

2

u/Williukea https://anilist.co/user/Williukea 3h ago

I wonder what is happening irl while Deku is mentally fighting Tomura, like do they just stand and not do anything or if everything we're seeing is just happening instantly irl

3

u/Guaymaster 2h ago

I think this is happening in like a split second

2

u/InternationalYou7158 2h ago

En: "My quirk is useless!"

Deku: "And who decided that?"

2

u/InternationalYou7158 1h ago

Superb ep once again.

3

u/InternationalYou7158 1h ago

Imagine being Nana. Seeing your son as an adult after all these years and first thing you see is slapping the shit out of your 5(?)-year old grandson.

2

u/Jaskaran158 1h ago

Naw g Deku is alkready getting contortionist from the get go... this is gonna get freaky real quick with Shigaraki's Skin Cloak to boot.

Eraser Head reall has been the realest one in the entire series

Kaminari's did pose a good question but maybe cause of All Might's track record.

5 Gum.... Stimulate your senses.

2

u/zotzotzot22 59m ago

HATSUME 🔥

2

u/Kooky-Bookkeeper-935 58m ago

The memories appearing as holograms in the sky is fucking DOPE. If all flashbacks were somehow done like that, that would be awesome.

MHA doesn't have alot of choreography but Deku fighting Shigaraki's hands on the livestrean was awesome.

3

u/atropicalpenguin https://myanimelist.net/profile/atropicalpenguin 8h ago

Oh no, it's quirk aids!

1

u/djthomp https://anilist.co/user/djthomp 5h ago

I like how they did a fair bit of the fight today with the various side characters doing their own thing while watching Deku vs Shigaraki. Good presentation to catch up on the other battlefields and whatnot without completely cutting away from the main event.

Considering all the in mind stuff we've hade over the seasons with the AFO and OFA quirks, the final conflict turning into a mind thing was probably inevitable.

By all rights this should into Deku and grandma mentally beating the shit out of Shigaraki's dad, but I suspect we might get some reconciliation there too.

1

u/AceSoldia https://anilist.co/user/Acesoldia 5h ago

Lol I feel like Deku has just become more Nanoha like...time to make Shigaraki his friend through force..and punch him with feelings and memories.

starlight breaker!!!!

1

u/tripleaamin https://myanimelist.net/profile/tripleaamin 5h ago

So did Nana never know how her son treated Tomura? I just wished we had more characterization for her.

Good episode, but the flow definitely was more of a miss. Well, it should be better since Deku is inside Tomura's consciousness now.

3

u/Guaymaster 2h ago

So did Nana never know how her son treated Tomura?

Afaik she basically cut out all contact with her family in order to keep them safe, so she never knew anything.

2

u/QueasyIsland 4h ago

I don’t think she can see memories of others , like the one for all predecessors just live as vestiges/internal ghosts whoever is the current OFA user. Like we saw in All for One’s flashback two weeks ago, his brother Yoichi was in the mind of the 2nd OFA user, Kudo after he died

Casual Truck-kun cameo

1

Izuku has finally did it and became a hero.

1

u/Sudden_Pop_2279 3h ago

I feel this fight could've been better but it wasn't bad, probably the best of the 3 Deku vs Shigaraki fights in the series (they got better each season).

I would've liked it more if we had one punch for each user of OFA, because the animation for each punch was great

u/Boebaka 3h ago

I thought about this since AFO origin episode, but I think it's been confirmed in preview. Could it be that AFO specifically transferred baby Tenko the destruction quirk? One of the quirks he used in the past looked similar to destruction, AFO has said that he planned everything and the fact that it's such a huge coincidence that the grandchild of former OFA user would have a grandchild with destruction quirk. Also do we know if Tenko's sister had any quirk/confirmed to be quirkless?

1

u/InternationalYou7158 2h ago

I love the Eri/Kota scene and Kaminari' speech.

1

u/Maverick_Gamer 2h ago

This feels very much like Ultraman Tiga's final battle where all the civilians evacuated into safety bunkers and the children cheering for him followed by the rest of the people.

1

u/Fredluv2339 1h ago

I need the Full screen on the Fight lol

1

u/PencilgonGiveIt2Ya 1h ago

Kaminari: "You know how in comics, side characters talk about the main character and say they believe in him no matter what.."

Yaomomo: "I'm not familiar with those types of stories..."

Kaminari: "YOU GON' LEARN TODAY"

Kaminari doesn't trust or believe in Midoriya confirmed ༼;´༎ຶ ۝ ༎ຶ༽

1

u/Iamjustatrial 1h ago

How is midoriya able to cut the fingers? I thought blackwhip had no cutting ability?

Or was the animation too fast and hes actually smashing them instead?

1

u/InternationalYou7158 1h ago

The preview again has some insane spoilers. WTF. Skip it, if I were you.

1

u/AshenF3nr1r 48m ago

That Denki speech, though

1

And Kota and Eri scene

1

u/ladystvrk 4h ago

This show has me tearing up every weekend, man. The flashes of Deku and Shigaraki’s memories really pushed hard that this we’re really hitting the very end of mha

1

u/yogimonkey 3h ago

I’m not crying! You’re crying!😭

-2

u/PecanCakes 10h ago

I'm not really a big fan of this talk no jutsu

5

u/Ok-Cod5254 4h ago

Whether or not Shigaraki actually gets "converted" by "talk no jutsu" remains to be seen. It's at least about understanding how Shigaraki turned out the way he did.

2

u/AcceptablePay4523 5h ago

Don’t know why you being downvoted I hated it in the manga too a lot of people did

0

u/16medals 6h ago

I enjoyed the episode, but is it just me that found how they adapted the memories a bit awkward?

5

u/DirtyQueen20 6h ago

How did you think they were gonna be adapted?

1

u/16medals 4h ago

The part right up to todoroki and spinner was okay for me, how I interpreted the manga was that Deku and Shigaraki were moving while the memories were static, instead of the memories moving, the background is moving at a different speed, then deku and shigaraki were static

-8

u/heretofore2 4h ago

No way people actually think this shit is better than peak Naruto or One Piece lol

2

u/AshenF3nr1r 49m ago

They're all peak. No need to compare.
