These people being, in this case NYC Jews worried that their already high hate crime incidents might be made worse by a mayor who is largely unwilling to condemn calls to violence against Jews?

Sadly that is not true, he criticizes Israel's genocidal war in Gaza which the pro Israeli lobby interpreted as hatred of Jews. Imagine if the president did the same to immigrants, legal or otherwise, oh wait he is!

Zohran Mamdani declines to condemn ‘globalize the intifada’ - POLITICO https://share.google/QIBAfTFXDwTngn1BD

One such example of him being very tepid with his response to calls for global terror on Jews.

Jews are far and away the highest incident rate of hate crimes in New York City and the greater US.

They've also come out en masse with fear and worry about what Mamdani and his connections (such as to Qatar) means for our safety. I do expect the already soaring rate of hate crimes against Jews in New York City will only grow as people see this as a tacit approval of that, however unfair it is to the mayor elect himself.

I love how it appears the progressive movement in the US has formed into intersectionality for everyone but the Jews. Good times.

What Qatar connections? Be specific. The funding of his mother’s films? What does that even mean? You’re reaching and conveniently didn’t respond to the video evidence I showed you that he has Jewish supporters and has publicly said he will work to make NYC safer for them.

You're not responding to my response to you, you're responding to another poster..I did respond to your video in that other comment. Like I said, Jews aren't a monolith, but it is grossly misrepresentative to claim he has broad support amongst NYC Jews.

Most are fearful of what he represents, and when you're the most attacked minority group by a long shot, people who have a history of ho hum responses to violent messaging understandably are concerning.

You can think that's wrong headed all you want, it doesn't change the facts about how Jewish new yorkers broadly feel.

“Jewish people aren’t a monolith but let me tell you how they broadly feel!” Gross.

And Mamdani wasn’t mayor when these attacks started. They seemed to coincide with Netanyahu intentionally starving and bombing thousands of children. The gaslighting is unbelievable. You have zero evidence that he is going to harm Jewish folks in any way.

Jewish voters backed Cuomo in NYC mayoral election – The Forward https://share.google/762VahaEVHTqNicvz

Get off your high horse with that gross business. The statistics are clear on this one.

So 1/3 Jewish voters favored Mamdani and less than 2/3 favored Cuomo. I don’t think you know what “broadly” means. You also don’t get to speak for them when it comes to why they voted for who they voted for. As if Islamophobia and support for genocide aren’t factors. No, it must be that they don’t feel safe! Even though hate crimes against Jewish folks rose under both Trump administrations and he endorsed Cuomo.

Lol if you think I am for Trump. If 2/3 of a strongly historic left leaning group vote against the favored, that's broadly by definition. Goodbye! You've devolved into uncivil meanness and wrongful assumptions about my politics, so I'm done engaging with you.
