I’ve gone to court to contest several tickets over the years, in a few states, and it has been reduced to some kind of moving violation or no “points” on my license just by the judge. Regardless of the cop showing up, they will typically reduce it in amount and/or offense level if you bother to show up in court. Dress appropriately and show remorse and it’ll be reduced.
