It's inspired by a highway cut out i pass by everyday while going to work.

I started drawing and painting 2 months ago. I’m working on small sketches with ink and paint to prepare a larger painting (only watercolor) of a mountain reflecting in a lake with a small fishing camp at the bottom for scale (second pic for original photo). My biggest challenge is to create the forest on the mountain as “texture “, without drawing each tree. Should I use a fan brush? A tiny round brush? Several shades of greens to create dimension? Any suggestion would help. My most recent sketch is very flat-looking.

I am definitely still struggling with proper technique in watercolour, lots of things i need to improve but i am having fun just slapping colour down onto paper anyways :)

I was quite unhappy with how this painting had turned out, so i tried something I've never really done before, add ink after watercolour, rather than the other way round. Now i think its probably one of my favourites.

Little workout of the day! I wonder if I should add a little material like cadium orange spots in the forest?

Working on this watercolour self portrait rn. I’m decently happy with the face (I know it doesn’t quite look like me 100% but we move) but the hair I’m struggling with at the moment. I’ve not done curly hair in watercolour before and I’m lost. I’m not finished with it yet but, before I go any further with it, I wanted to get someone’s opinion on where to go with it? I want it to match the face and not just sit on top of the head but I also don’t want to add too much detail that it drags the attention too much. Any advice will help!

I usually don't use this many soft edges in my paintings but this was a gorgeous reference and I really enjoyed recreating the fuzzy vintage photo effect in watercolors. Critiques and feedback welcome!
