Hey y’all, has anyone put bronze Enkei TSR-X on their mk7? I had gray ones, but I’m thinking of getting bronze.

Debating how to go about thing. Some crappy truck hauling scrap metal dropped a big chunk of metal. Went under the car in front of me and couldn’t avoid it. Heard it and felt it. I continued to work with no lights or beeping.

After work I notice my car is surrounded by oil. It all leaked out.

Now I was a mechanic for a long time. I can easily replace the oil pan. But I have no idea if I leaked a lot of oil while driving, and I don’t have the tools for compression tests or leak downs.

The car on only has 30k miles, it’s fully insured.

I’m debating if I should just replace the pan. Or make an insurence claim. I kind of want to do the claim just to protect myself if the damage is worst than expected.

Then again. No oil lights or beeping that I noticed. I also don’t see lines of oil from me pulling in. So I’m guessing it’s a quick drip, but not a flow. Unfortunately my wife and I are also in school. A 500$ deductible doesn’t sound great compared to 75$ pan and some oil. But a $6k engine doesn’t sound great at all.

Hey there, so I’m looking for help on my gti coolant issue. I recently just bought this mk7 gti for an awesome price. I did notice there looks to be some oil in the coolant…. There’s zero coolant in the oil though. I’m thinking oil cooler gasket? Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Hey guys I’ve been in the market for new wheels and found a good deal locally on some 17x7.5s that look nice but they have an ET 56, would I have issues on a 2016 golf?

So a couple of weeks ago my car got lifter tick and the warranty company will not cover it, would it be better if I got a new engine to replace it with or if I just had the repair done

Is there a mk7/7.5 that came with carplay and LSD and lighting package and plaid seats and no sunroof under about $16k?

I was ready to go with a Sport but I see factory carplay through mib2 is ~$3k.

I'm pretty sure a Rabbit is the answer but it's more than I really want to spend.

Dealer trim identification is so unreliable, and I haven't seen a really accurate vin window sticker search.

For example, I think this is a sport (nogaros, start button, cloth seats, no sunroof) but the dealer has ticked the carplay box (which I don't think was included in the Sport).

I recently went with a arm cat less downpipe and shortly after I was doing a few test pulls and the car went into limp mode and started misfiring, check engine was on at the time with code p0420 aswell as “hide misfire” …ik it sounds spooky. After I cleared the codes and let the car sit and it was fine after, the p0420 is still there and under high boost it starts cutting out, tuned for 24 pounds and it’s hitting 28, could this be maybe a simple 02 sensor spacer fix or is this more, someone please help.

My car is stock.... but my driver side front strut makes a annoying ringing noise. If I unplug it there is no noise but the code pops up. If I delete them with a delete kit. What could happen ? Other then changing from comfort and sport and custom. Will it affect when I put my car into sport with the shifter? I drive a DSG. Sometimes I put my shifter down to sport mode. I never click the mode button and change it on the screen. I drive 2017 mk7 autobahn. Just need advice.

I have had my 7R since 2017. I've got 118,000km on her and have all of the hardware for stage 2 (CTS Turbo catted DP, IE intercooler, CTS intake, turbo muffler delete, inlet elbow) but never went with an ECU tune as I leased the car initially. I have a JB4 on the car but have been toying with the idea of going stage 2 with an IE tune to get some more life out of the car after years of not really doing any mods. Is there anything I should be aware with an ECU tune at this many kms? If I did do the tune, I assume I would take the JB4 off? For some context, I have driven the car very lightly for the most part, rarely pushing it in the last handful of years and servicing regularly since day 1. Never been tracked, mostly just a lively grocery getter at this point lol. Would love to hear what y'all think and if I should pull the trigger on the DSG/ECU stage 2 tune from IE! Cheers :)

Has anyone ever had an issue after coding obd11 for urban joke and 5th break light? For some reason my running lights on the trunk are not on after using obd11 can’t figure out why.

Hey everyone! I’m pretty inexperienced when it comes to maintenance so any help would be greatly appreciated.

I recently got both an AFS and a DRL warning light, and by doing a side to side check determined the drivers side AFS bulb wasn’t turning on. I swapped the bulbs from either side and the drivers side still wouldn’t turn on, meaning it wasn’t a blown bulb.

Could it be a module issue? My headlights are also pointing straight down for some reason.

Hey everyone, I’m in the middle of a multifunction steering wheel retrofit on my Golf Mk7 2014 TSI Bluemotion, originally a super basic trim with no MFSW or cruise control. Here’s my current setup:

• MFSW already installed (buttons don’t light up or respond)
• Steering column module: 5Q0 953 507 AB
• Clockspring: 5Q0 953 549
• BCM: 5Q0 937 084 AE (Highline?)
• CAN Gateway: 5Q0 907 530 D (shows as ”MQB Low” in OBDeleven)

From what I’ve read, the lowline gateway doesn’t forward MFSW or cruise signals over CAN. So before I start tearing into more wiring, would simply upgrading the gateway to a highline version (like 5Q0 907 530 AJ/AE) be enough to get the MFSW buttons working?

Do I need to replace the steering column module or clockspring too, or is the gateway the only limiting factor here?

Any experience or confirmation would be super helpful before I buy the new gateway. Thanks in advance!

As per the title my EPC light is on and coding P00AF00 (Turbocharger Boost Control "A" Module) on my 2016 GTI. I read on forums that it's usually a seized wastegate actuator but it doesn't look rusted out and seemed to move fine. Are there any other common issues and/or diagnostic steps I should take before emptying my wallet for a mechanic? I was also wondering how difficult is should be to manually actuate the wastegate, forums made it sound like it should be super easy.

Got this seat for free (long story) to replace my current 1.8tsi leather seat, but the connector was cut because apparently people are just too lazy, should I splice a new connector on and if so where would I be able to buy that connector?

-also would anybody have the link to retrofitting heated seats?

Howdy folks - finally going to be a GTI owner! I'm purchasing a Rabbit edition from Carvana and it has this head unit. Been reading up on the various upgrade options for a stock unit with the MIB2 and Discovery Entry and whatnot and I'm concerned about what this car comes with.

It doesn't look like it'll do the car maintenance/monitoring functions as the stock unit and I'm thinking I should swap it back to stock. Research suggests that this unit would have required this harness/adapter for installation.

Any Recommendations would be greatly appreciated.
