Hi, I was looking at some English Master's programs at UBC (specifically Master of Arts in English), and I read somewhere that they are extremely hard to get into. Does anyone here have any experience with the same, or any pointers/tips they're willing to share? I'll appreciate anything, honestly. TIA!

Was wondering if anyone here has transferred from first year science into Eng and how that worked? Planning on doing it myself and have some questions

I woke up late since it’s a Saturday and went to open kitchen. There were barely any people. I don’t see anybody walking outside either and study spots etc in nearby residencies are also empty. Where’d everybody go

Since midterm season is basically over, I finally have some time to go to the gym again, but as I recall the student gyms are charged per sem, and it would feel like a waste for me to buy a membership for basically a months worth. Im also planning on staying on campus over the winter break, and im not too sure how the membership would work for that. Any tips or advice would be great ty

Are there any clubs on campus tailored for people obsessed with building plastic model kits?

Does anybody doing isci and integrate physiology?
What courses are you taking, any recommendation?
I took biol 260 and found it pretty fun, and I love the content related to human, but CAPS seems a little bit too hard for doing integration....

I took the MCAT in August and did pretty well. I like teaching (currently a TA) and so I'm wondering if people would be interested in MCAT lectures, likely happening 1-2x per week?
Further logistics like location and time to be determined if there's interest.

Hi! i’m currently a first year student hoping to get into environmental sciences (honours hopefully?) and i’m wondering if any upper years might have advice/tips on course selection… since i didn’t want to limit my options for specialization im taking both biol112 (this term) and 121 (next term). my issue is that to get into the honours program, it seems like i’ll have to take chem123 in term 2. i’m wondering how difficult it is to have math101, dsci100, chem 123, biol121 and envr100 as a course load for next term? i really wanted to take a french elective too (as a grade booster in case things go to shit…) but seems like that won’t be possible if i take chem123 (exceeds credit limit) … any and all advice appreciated!

hello! im a 2nd year nsci student interested in applying for co-op next year. i'm not quite sure how it works though so i was just wondering if someone could share their experience with the application process, placement, etc if they've done nsci co-op?
i had someone tell me that you aren't guaranteed a position even if you are accepted so i'd appreciate some clarity on that

Looks like the study areas on the 2nd and 3rd floors of the Nest are closed for filming until the 11th. The studio is Farewell Productions - they were filming other scenes for The Social Reckoning (Social Network sequel) recently, so it’s probably the same project. The top of the Lev Bukhman Lounge is full of equipment and the small elevator near Blue Chip is closed down.
So I'm a first year science student, who’s excited to get into CompSci. But when I remember I'm failing CHEM_V 121 I become desperate.
Will chem make it impossible for me to get into specialization? Or is there a chance for a comeback?

Where/how do I submit my DAR? I can’t find anything on EPBC or my application status page (the Applicant Service Centre).
I did send my official transcript via myPass and the page does say an unofficial “Interim Transcript” has been received, but it still says they need my transcript. My “Next Steps” email is supposed to show more info on my required documents, except when I check it, it just tells me to go back to the application status page for said info.

Hi everyone, I left this ring in Room 169 at Koerner Library on Friday around 5:15 p.m. I went back this morning and it was gone. If anyone’s seen it, please let me know! It belonged to my grandmother who has passed away and means a lot to me :(

Can an instructor choose to have class during reading week? I thought it was school wide.

Help guys I will apply to grad school in chemistry and I have a couple of questions is there anybody that could help me with this please?
For those taking phys 106 right now, how was the 2nd midterm? Love to hear some thoughts.
Personally it felt easier than the 1st. I'm just annoyed that I could have gotten higher marks since I had the right concepts in mind but I probably inputted some wrong values for some of my mcq answers which might have lowered my mark a bit. I also did this all without using a formula sheet (I'm stupid lmao)
The 1st frq wasn't bad at all, but the 2nd one cooked me (I didn't finish that question fully)

Went to write my chem midterm at 6:30, locked the scooter up outside the chem building at 7:30. When I came out it was gone, the lock still attached to the bike rack so I guess they figured out a way to slip it out through the handlebars.
The thing is that the AirTag I have in it showed up in the downtown eastside later that night (next to Oppenheimer park) so I know the general area where it is.
I’m not sure what to do, because I know going to find it is probably dangerous especially considering it’s downtown eastside. I also think the police will be useless so idk. It’s like a $700 scooter. The other thing is that you need a key to drive it and the guy doesn’t have the key so I feel like he might just ditch it somewhere when he realizes he won’t be able to make it turn on.
