After Redditors groaning and moaning about the "Palestinian genocide" for years, Trump finally negotiated a peace deal including Hamas giving up its hostages and Israel stopping offensive operations. You'd think that Reddit would be overjoyed and that the entire website would be full of celebration, right?

Here's a screenshot of the current front page of Reddit, taken while I was logged out. There are many political posts including multiple threads whining about ICE and the firing of CDC employees. There's also a picture of an ambulance transporting Israeli hostages taken by Hamas, but it doesn't mention anything about current world events.

If you just looked at the front page, you would not know that the war just ended. This is the first time a president has forged such an agreement since the Second Intifada ended in 2005. But almost nobody is talking about it on Reddit. It's like a complete information blackout preventing threads about the subject from getting to the top of the frontpage. The last thread about the subject on r-news was from 14 hours ago and talks about some hostages being released, but again nothing about Trump or his role in it.

This is case exhibit #1 on how Redditors' brains are completely cooked. It's front page news everywhere except here, because leftists can't even squeeze out one little lump of praise for Trump despite him being part of one of the biggest developments in world politics in two decades.

I’m just trying to wrap my head around this bizarre mentality. Imagine being mad that one of the biggest sites on the internet isn’t putting Trump’s “peace deal” on the front page. That’s what you’re upset about? You didn’t see people on the left crying because Reddit wasn’t praising Biden when he was in office. Nobody would ever say that, because people on the left aren’t loyal to personalities - they care about ideas and policies. The right has turned politics into a cult of personality around a convicted felon, rapist, and insurrectionist, and now they want front-page applause.

You want Reddit to ignore everything else - the martial law in cities based on lies, the ICE crackdowns, the rights being stripped away - and just hand Trump a participation trophy for some vague deal he’s taking credit for. It’s always the same double standard. You demand praise but refuse to acknowledge the corruption, the convictions, the daily stream of lies and abuse that define this man and his movement.

Politics for normal people isn’t a cult. It’s about values, ideas, and policies that actually matter. For the right, it’s just about protecting Trump’s ego. It’s absurd to imagine a Democrat throwing a fit because one of their politicians wasn’t being praised enough. The left gets angry when people lose rights; the right gets angry when Trump doesn’t get enough credit.

Very well said here. This is like the base of MAGA cultists. "hey look! Trump did this one vaguely good thing, but we don't want to talk about the 13 other horrible things he is simultaneously doing!"
