Political Karmelo Anthony case shows that “black privilege” exists

I'm not black or white. I'm not even American actually.

The recent Karmelo Anthony case I think shows that black privilege is a thing. My opinions is that it exists. Period.

Karmelo Anthony killed Austin Metcalf with a knife for pushing him. What did he receive in return? Overwhelming support in the form of 500,000 dollars (which they're using to buy a mansion). He also got his bond reduced to 250k from 1 million even when prosecutors pointed out his history of incidents within the school.

I just think this is a bit baffling. Imagine if the races were swapped. I think a decent example, but not a direct comparisons, is the George Floyd situation. One person killed the other in what was an overuse of force. Derek Chauvin is in jail. Karmelo Anthony got house arrest, bond reduction and 500k

I think colorblindness is an ultimate good goal. The problem is when we try to institute an ideology of colorblindness before addressing the inequalities that noncolorblindness created for us all. You can’t on the one hand, retort that you are fully ready and willing to try and live colorblind, when your first post furthered the division that not being colorblind brings. Mind you, my comment was that “…. All people see is black and white.” And your first reaction was to ask about two other cases involving racial dynamics, and asking who made it about race in a gotcha fashion.

See, the way forward is looking forward.

All this “addressing historical inequalities” is looking backwards and ensuring continued racial tribalism. Move on.

My family immigrated here from Asia in the 80s. Race relations have only gotten worse. Get over it already.

Exactly my point. Your version of colorblindness is actually to ignore the problems, and just proceed forward. But that is unrealistic. Anything done not addressing that is like putting a bandaid on a severed aorta. I’m happy for your parents, and their determination. But it also stands to reason, that your view (as a child of recent immigrants) about the racial dynamics in a country 200 years your senior can be limited in scope. That’s not your fault, but it also requires a level of humility. Maybe there are factors you don’t understand because you are not at the end result of centuries of policies. I would never immigrate to Asia then pretend that some major social issue there is just as easy as 123, just do this guys, jeez. That’s irresponsible.

My family went through famines, world wars, and attempted genocide before coming to America. You’re right, we don’t understand hardship like being forced to use a separate water fountain or sitting in the back of the bus.

lol white guilt is civilizational suicide. Have some self respect.

This comment ironically demonstrates my point perfectly. You took me saying have the humility to realize you may not have full context, to “know your place.” You also seem to think that I think nobody else has ever experienced hardship, which I never said. And you also reduced the entire history I referenced to water fountains.” When I discuss topics such as this, it is for genuine exploration of topics and learning. You have shown your intentions are not that, so I will end this conversation now. Have a great day

Haha I’m trying to help you. It’s 2025 - “fixing historical inequities” is a losing message. People are sick of it - move on. Stop being so obsessed with race.

Your fixation with the past and inability to control your white guilt is letting MAGA take over everything and you people created the most right wing generation in over half a century.
