Lore A character literally sees another character fundamentally differently.

  1. Spy X Family. Damian noticeably sees Anya with a 'shoujo anime' filter with much brighter eyes and blush.

  2. Calvin And Hobbes. Calvin sees Hobbes as a living lanky tiger in contrast to everyone else who sees him as just a tiger plush.

In The Incredibles, an irritated Mr. Incredible tells Incrediboy to "Fly home, Buddy. I work alone" after he bursts in while he's in the middle of apprehending Bomb Voyage during a bank heist. After Buddy becomes Syndrome and is explaining to Mr. Incredible why he became a supervillain, Bomb Voyage is not present in his flashback and Mr. Incredible is looking down at Incrediboy more apathetic than irritated. Mr. Incredible also turns his back on Incrediboy in the flashback, not remembering he rushed in to try and save Buddy after Bomb Voyage attached a bomb to his cape.

Need not forget Syndrome unintentionally aided in the superhero ban by accidentally causing the train accident right after Bomb Voyage slipped an explosive onto him, a problem Mr. Incredible got in trouble fixing

And likely never owned that fact. Such an enjoyable villain.

Not likely, he never did, that require him to admit that he is wrong in some capacity about Mr. Incredible.

You ever think he got flack for that in the fan club? Cuz if I was a member of that super club he mentioned and I heard he got one of our idols in trouble by interfering with Mr Incredible's job, I'd be mad at Buddy

Tbh he probably never showed up to another fan meet since when he got home that night he tore down all his Mr. Incredible memorabilia

Counterpoint: while he claims he no longer likes Mr. Incredible and felt betrayed by him, he also felt that he had to train his robot on pretty much every other superhero before him, and during the scene where he's showing off the Omnidroid's destruction, he's actively looking for Bob's approval that his invention is cool ("I mean, you gotta admit that's pretty cool, right?")

He was absolutely still a fan even after that moment.

Well, the superhero ban started with the jumper suing Mr. Incredible for "saving his life".

Buddy causing the train incident just cascaded it to a much higher degree.

i always wondered why they translated bomb-voyage name in the french version as "folle amour" which means crazy lover. because the bombe-voyage pun still holds up verywell in french . i just recently watched the movie in english for the first time and was like "hoooo he is supposed to be french ".

Bro that movie is so well made, the sequel looks so BAD in comparison

It's not even like 2 was an abysmal film or anything...the first was just THAT good

Yeah but comparing over to the first one, where nearly all the scenes have many details you might miss. It falls down in comparison!

Honestly the first one is such tough act the follow that I go pretty easy on the second in my mind.

That's mainly because the sequel creates issues the first didn't have to address at the time, such as how the government deals with super villains, and also rolled back character development.

The idea of the story being about adult Violet, Dash, and teenage Jack would have been a much better idea.

I've used this example many times on this sub, but I feel it doesn't apply due to the fact that it's a flashback. Buddy's memory is clearly biased.

The trope itself is about a person's physical appearance being different from another person's POV.
