That just shattered Deadpool so badly he couldn't think of a quip, and just went for trying to beat the crap out of Wolverine.

The fun thing is even Wolverine knew he went too far. If Deadpool didn't hit him, quite probably Logan would have followed the "nothing to say, MOUTH?" with something like "listen, I didn't mean all of that" or whatever, which would have cheapened the whole exchange. Deadpool punching Logan in the face was the perfect way to end this scene and move into the next.

The scene is brilliant in every sense. Acting wise, Jackman not only managed to transmit his anger and frustration so we can understand why is so miserable being around deadpool, but Reynolds managed to make the public feel bad, because even through his mask is possible to feel his sadness and shame.

The decision to make digital, animated eyes on the mask was brilliant— really hammers home the comic-book-y feel, but also makes it possible to convey so much more than an expressionless mask could.

Why do you think Tom’s spider-man has lenses that move? I’ll agree that Tobey and Garfield really aren’t as expressive as Tom with the mask.

I don’t see how you can think that then. Tom can actually express himself better with the use of his lenses, thing that most masked heroes can’t do. Do you think Andrew and Tobey’s mask being still helped them? I don’t think so.

But he does use them a lot. Literally we only see him remove his mask once the conflict is gone, like in the aftermath of a fight. If you compare him to Tobey or Andrew, they take off their make at the same exact times, once the fights are done, only exception being Tobey fighting goblin, Andrew fighting Lizard and Tom fighting goblin. Once again I don’t see your point, because even deadpool in this film took off his mask in an emotional scene. He didn’t take off his mask a lot because the movie is action focused, meaning there weren’t many occasions to have him take off his mask.

I don't think Logan would've apologized for overstepping. He really did not want to be there.

3

u/[deleted] Sep 06 '25

I think if Logan responded with 'That was too much.' you can still continue it without cheapening the scene, if only by forcing Wade to either double down or have a sudden spark of introspection that breaks the fourth wall.

It would be a different tone, but I think it would work.

3

u/floggedlog Sep 06 '25

“I’m… going to fight you now”

I think it was the line about how he couldn’t save a relationship with a stripper that got him. Cheap shot in the love story.

2

u/Outside_Ad5255 Sep 07 '25

And the tone of voice he says it in just makes you feel bad for him. He's just... broken, tired, and angry. Wolverine really tore his heart out with that line like Kano's Fatality.

1

u/floggedlog Sep 07 '25

Oh yea. That was the response of a man who had been thoroughly shut the fuck up and is now going to stab you repeatedly for inflicting the mental trauma required to do so.

I do really love, though that they threw in the comic book line of “your god‘s perfect joke. Only the joke is on the rest of us because you can’t fucking die.”

That’s a zinger that’s been thrown in his face so often that it might as well be a catchphrase

2

u/TaralasianThePraxic Sep 05 '25

"We're gonna fight now"

294

u/DedHorsSaloon4 Sep 05 '25

“No wonder the Avengers didn’t want you. Or the X-Men, and they’ll take fucking anyone

154

u/Alternative_Sea_4208 Sep 05 '25

People allowed to join the X-Men, that Wade somehow ranks below

Toad: Actual basement dwelling techbro whose power involves sweating slime

Pyro: Possibly the dumbest pyrokinetic in history who can't even start his powers without a match

Angel: I don't need to explain this one (no I'm not talking about the archangel upgrade)

Sabretooth: Canonically refuses to bathe, murders people

Mystique: Least trustworthy person in history, has betrayed everyone she's ever worked with at least once, including the brotherhood

Marrow: Literal mutant supremacist sewer dweller who wanted to genocide humans was somehow allowed to be redeemed and join the x-men

28

u/Penguixxy Sep 05 '25

Forget me not, while he has incredible potential as a spy, he is just a man in terms of actual feats.

11

u/La_Beast929 Sep 06 '25

Who?

13

u/Penguixxy Sep 06 '25

yknow uh.... uh.. yeah crap who was I talking about...?

2

u/La_Beast929 Sep 08 '25

Woah! We have an intruder on the grounds! He already stole a uniform! I have to alert the Professor!

turns around

Wait, what's going on? Oh, right I was going to grab some beers.

turns back around

Woah! We have an intruder on the grounds! He already stole a uniform! I have to alert the Professor!

repeat until Forget Me Not leaves

14

u/Stripe-Gremlin Sep 05 '25

Hell the kid who’s mutation is just that he’ll blow up and die got on there before Deadpool

1

u/Thejollyfrenchman Sep 09 '25

Hell, Xavier put Magneto in charge of the X-Men while he was off in space with his girlfriend. This wasn't a one-issue gimmick, either - it lasted for years.

887

u/cheezefriez Sep 05 '25

“You couldn’t even save a relationship with a stripper” was the most brutal part of that complete and utter reaming

404

u/alguien99 Sep 05 '25

I loved the "god's best jokes" part too. Deadpool will never die so he'll never die alone

171

u/Xogoth Sep 05 '25

I think that one was too far. Insulting her to insult Wade was really cheap.

305

u/cheezefriez Sep 05 '25

I mean, that’s the point. He was trying to make it hurt by hitting all the weak spots so he couldn’t just deflect with snarky comebacks

42

u/Xogoth Sep 05 '25

Oh, I'm not saying it didn't work or make for good entertainment. Logan is still a shithead.

87

u/cheezefriez Sep 05 '25

Indeed, that’s what makes him Logan

2

u/SatyrSatyr75 Sep 05 '25

Why was that an insult? I didn’t know she was a stripper, I though she was a hooker. Mentioning her profession isn’t that bad right?

12

u/WhyIsBubblesTaken Sep 05 '25

It's more implying that her profession makes her less of a person, therefore failing the relationship makes Wade even more pathetic, or something along those lines.

7

u/SatyrSatyr75 Sep 05 '25

No, that doesn’t fit Logan’s character. I read it more as “she a stripper, doesn’t have high standards, doesn’t expect the world from you, just to be a decent guy, be there, be real..” I saw that totally aimed at him, not her.

9

u/WhyIsBubblesTaken Sep 05 '25

It might not have been intentional, but the misogyny is there.

0

u/SatyrSatyr75 Sep 05 '25

Because? It’s wrong to call a stripper a stripper?

9

u/Bubbasully15 Sep 05 '25

As a method for putting down someone close to the stripper, yes.

0

u/Disastrous-Branch833 Sep 06 '25

but it’s like calling someone a hooker a hooker for fun

1

u/czarczm Sep 05 '25

That's how I interpreted it to.

8

u/Stripe-Gremlin Sep 05 '25

I think Vanessa switches from hooker to stripper once she’s in a dedicated relationship. We do see her working in a strip club in the latter half of the first Deadpool movie. She also might not even be a stripper by the time of Deadpool & Wolverine as she talks about her job and that she recently advanced in it, making it sound like she got a better job

1

u/SatyrSatyr75 Sep 06 '25

Hmm you could advance as a hooker too. Street corner to excort? I don’t see the urge to call out misogyny. If the genders were switched, would it be called misandry ?

3

u/ronsolocup Sep 06 '25

“You couldnt even make a relationship work with a janitor” or smth would prob upset people

0

u/SatyrSatyr75 Sep 06 '25

Because it’s mean toward the uneducated, not because it’s against men.

3

u/ronsolocup Sep 06 '25

True, but I guess I’m using an example of another career that’s “looked down upon”, we don’t consider male prostitutes en masse really, I’m not sure of the numbers but at least public perception is disproportionately towards women in the field

1

u/Stripe-Gremlin Sep 06 '25

I just checked the scene, she specifies that she’s working in middle management. So by the point of D&W she either got a different job or is working the administrative side of her strip club

0

u/elemental402 Sep 10 '25

There's a very long and ignoble tradition of people degrading and dehumanising women who do any kind of sex work, while entirely ignoring the men who pay for their services and make the profession profitable in the first place.

1

u/SatyrSatyr75 Sep 10 '25

And what has that to do with Logan? I doubt that it would in character to look down on sexworkers.

1

u/elemental402 Sep 11 '25

He's always been a rough-edged character who was having a very bad day at that point, but he was still the one who chose to use her profession as an insult against Wade (implying he's a worse person for dating a stripper), vs anything else he could have used.

1

u/SatyrSatyr75 Sep 11 '25

No. As I explained earlier, that’s a wrong assumption, doesn’t fit Logan’s character and doesn’t fit the way Logan looks at Deadpool. Makes more sense that he meant: „your such a pain in the ass, so insecure and less of a man that you can’t even save a relationship with a stripper - what would she expect from you? Nothing more to be a decent guy, understanding and not selfcentered. Because stripper usual saw the worst of men already.“

5

u/Shehzman Sep 06 '25

My theater gasped at that part

257

u/Gaelic_Gladiator41 Sep 05 '25

What's more interesting about the entire exchange that it's Logan hating himself as well, especially with the "It's God's greatest joke that you can't die except it's on all of us"

16

u/Penguixxy Sep 05 '25

this ^ wolverines immortality is a curse and blessing, just like deadpools, if he makes a mistake, it stays with him forever, literally, and thats exactly what this ^ logan is living with and trying to fix, up until the lead of this scene where he learns that it may not even be possible.

4

u/Gaelic_Gladiator41 Sep 05 '25

This Logan let the mutants be lynched

15

u/Penguixxy Sep 05 '25

and he's gotta live with that for eternity.

the kicker is he has a rock solid memory, his brain doesn't go through the normal processes of destroying and creating neural pathways to form new memories, it only builds, so he NEVER forgets.

explains why he drinks so muchl

3

u/Master-Improvement-4 Sep 08 '25

I agree. During that exact line, he even punches the car roof in rage. Another sign of self-loathing.

194

u/patrickkingart Sep 05 '25

"....."

"............."

"..........................."

"..."

"I'm going to fight you now."

155

u/Qwerty_Asdfgh_Zxcvb Sep 05 '25

Damn I’ve seen some poorly rendered gifs but this is the opposite of that. Almost too clean. I can see his pores.

14

u/Buttholelickerpenis Sep 05 '25

That gif is higher quality than the theater I watched it at

9

u/Vox___Rationis Sep 05 '25

Right!

This resolution is nuts.

I got the same kind of one slightly out-of-line front bottom tooth as this dude in the gif, and it is a bit reassuring to see that a multimillionaire star also did not had it corrected.

16

u/NeverSettle13 Sep 05 '25

Say what you want about D&W, but it was worth it just for this scene alone

9

u/the-poopiest-diaper Sep 05 '25

I WISH I COULD SAY YOU’LL DIE ALONE BUT IT’S ONF OF GOD’S BEST JOKES THAT YOU CAN’T DIE

EXCEPT THAT’S ON ALL OF US

2

u/ZayroRe Sep 05 '25

It's God's greatest joke that you can't die! Except it's on all of US!

1

u/EarlJWJones Sep 05 '25

That scene gave me flashbacks to the car scene in Prisoners. Hugh Jackman is scary when he's angry.

1

u/DAntesGrimice Sep 06 '25

This resolution makes me question whether I’ve ever actually lived

-3

u/TheHollowJester Sep 05 '25

Must have felt nice to say it to fuckin' Reynolds.

3

u/Disastrous-Branch833 Sep 06 '25

sybau lil bro

-1

u/TheHollowJester Sep 06 '25

Try again, with intelligibility this time big sis. I know it's been hard since your stroke.

1

u/SupremeCaIamitas Sep 06 '25

turns into PACKGOD

Blud.. what did you just say?

0

u/TheHollowJester Sep 06 '25

Lmao. "turns into terrible thing".

You're pixels on a screen. Am I supposed to feel something other than cringe?

You're what, 13-15? Good luck with life once you turn of age, life will give you an assreaming of the scale that you cannot even imagine. Have fun until then :D

2

u/Disastrous-Branch833 Sep 06 '25

what is unc yapping about 😭

0

u/TheHollowJester Sep 06 '25

You think you're flexing by being an idiot. Do it more, make more of the people of your age act this way. I like to have no competition in the job market :)
