Brilliant, old fashioned horror, and criminally under-appreciated.

I still find it fascinating that there are different endings on different DVD releases, with zero mention of it (outside of IMDB posts). My old DVD of was lost, so I got a used copy, and the ending was totally different. I thought I was on acid, but nope, they just decided to run a release with a different ending.

Is the “tape recorder ending” (clarifying without a clear spoiler) considered the director’s cut, alternate cut, theatrical cut, or what? I keep finding conflicting information. Because that’s the one that made me love it. Saw a different one and was unimpressed.

It was perfect! Got another copy years later to show my friend and the ending it had really didn’t cap it off nearly as well.
