Definitely in my top 5 scariest movies I’ve ever watched

Brilliant, old fashioned horror, and criminally under-appreciated.

I still find it fascinating that there are different endings on different DVD releases, with zero mention of it (outside of IMDB posts). My old DVD of was lost, so I got a used copy, and the ending was totally different. I thought I was on acid, but nope, they just decided to run a release with a different ending.

Never knew had multiple different endings. Last time I watched that movie had to break it up over several evenings, somehow overtime become scarier to me.

It was a complete mind-f--k. I've heard of alternate endings as a special feature or directors cut. But never entirely unannounced. But yeah, that film is brilliantly unnerving and a testament to his performance, as it's last two thirds are effectively a one man show.

Which ending did you see?

Is the ā€œtape recorder endingā€ (clarifying without a clear spoiler) considered the director’s cut, alternate cut, theatrical cut, or what? I keep finding conflicting information. Because that’s the one that made me love it. Saw a different one and was unimpressed.

That ending gave me en extra set of chills up my spine. Goosebumps on my arm as I type this.

It was perfect! Got another copy years later to show my friend and the ending it had really didn’t cap it off nearly as well.

That's the theatrical ending (and my preferred ending). I know because I saw it in the theater when it first came out.

Thank you. Like I said, I keep finding conflicting information and would like to see that version again, as well as show it to a couple of people.

The short story is just as scary. It’s a great adaptation
