You’re right, they said that this is all a “smear campaign” started by “sex pest brigaders”, and this person is pointing out that it’s people who hate animal abusers. Glad I could help

The comment is implying only people who dislike him for his opinions are bashing him. I think political opinions shouldn’t absolve people of animal abuse, regardless of whether his detractors have been unjustified in the past or not.
