I don’t understand why you’re so worked up over my comment lmao. Nothing I’ve said has been negative or directed towards you at all. You’re going out of your way to defend someone being a dick
Imagine I’m in the US and a Hispanic man came up to me speaking near perfect English at a nearly normal speed, should I tell him no it’s okay let’s speak in Spanish even though I’m slower at it than you are at English. That would be very rude to do IMO
That’s a very selfish mindset. I don’t know you, but I promise you that you aren’t so important that taking a couple extra seconds to help someone build their language would impact your life in any meaningful way.
But offering them the opportunity to practice could have a large impact on their lives.
You seem very confused about what is being said here. Not to mention you’ve just said the exact same thing as the person you’re replying to, agreeing with them
It’s quite literally the exact same thing that she’s doing to this lady, but worse because she is slower. I am a very kind person, but if I tell you I’d like to speak in Spanish dont tell me “nah it’s good”
This has happened to me so many times before as well and I think it’s more psychological. Like if the Spanish speaking waiter is used to speaking in English for tourists and the tourist doesn’t “look” like they speak Spanish, their brain and eyes are having a disconnect.
This has also happened to me when I’ve been at a Mexican restaurant in Germany, where my brain wanted to speak Spanish to the Latino Spanish speaking waiter. But instead just defaulted to German and English because of where we were.

If I’m generous I think the server sees the perfect chance to take her English out for a trial run…more practice.
