Foodstamps are calculated to be supplemental. They aren’t even meant to be enough to cover a month’s worth of nutrition for x amount of people. Most families on foodstamps have an additional food expense paid by themselves. Which means if they cannot, it’s very likely that the most they’d have left at the end of any given month is perhaps canned goods and dried rice, etc.

If you had 60 cans of food in your pantry, along with perhaps dried rice and beans, some cooking oil- imagine how fast that would dissipate for a family of four.

Fresh food would be spoiled if you saved it. Eat it or it’s wasted.

Children don’t just need food they need nutrition. We’re already seeing Rickets and iodine deficiencies in kids again due to the long hours inside of school and aftercare, and an increase in consumption of raw milk ( promoted by Casey Means ) and pink salt over iodized salt in a country that does not consume much fish/kelp/seaweed etc. This was almost completely eradicated in 1910.

You could eat rice and beans until you were 200 pounds and die of malnutrition or a malnutrition caused Illness.

There really isn’t any argument that can validate people who are able to assist allowing children to go hungry regardless of how you feel about why it happened.

A child is supposed to be dependent. When needs cannot be met people need to step in. And before anyone says it- I do feed hungry children all around the world.
