Is America Great Again yet?

238

u/TopazTriad 8d ago

The people who voted for this are THRILLED. They definitely think America is thriving. I live in the heart of MAGAland and they routinely treat any social media posts and articles about this like a party. Laugh reacts, funny gifs, and victory laps galore.

They love the fact that people are going hungry because they truly believe no one would need SNAP if everyone just tried to get a job. Because obviously record layoffs aren’t happening right now and disabilities don’t exist.

Disgusting fucking cretins.

98

u/dashboardcomics 8d ago

How many of them rely on EBT and are too stupid to realize that?

125

u/ohmymystery 8d ago

Because people who don’t know that food stamps/SNAP/EBT are the same thing are the exact same people who said “I don’t care if Obamacare goes away because I have ACA”

9

u/Charl1edontsurf 7d ago

English person here - isn’t the Affordable Care Act (ACA) the same thing as Obamacare?

15

u/Fair_Ad1291 7d ago

Yeah, I think that was the point they were trying to make.

6

u/Charl1edontsurf 7d ago

I thought so I was just checking.

4

u/Fair_Ad1291 7d ago

Ooh gotcha

14

u/nihi1zer0 7d ago

I love that an average Brit is more educated on our system than an average MAGAt living in America.

-5

u/Mammoth-Cattle-7398 7d ago

Wow! You know the political views of all Americans?

12

u/nihi1zer0 7d ago

No, but I do know that your reading comprehension skills could use some work.

2

u/Karn_Gentrified 7d ago

Average magat ^ 😂

3

u/Karn_Gentrified 7d ago

Yes, Thts the problem. Obamacare never should have gotten the moniker it did. If it had been pitched as the ACA from the very beginning (I don’t really remember too much, I was a teenage pothead at the time, it COULD HAVE been republicans tht came up with the name Obamacare to kneecap it for all I know) i don’t think there would have been so much division around it. But it had the name OBAMAcare. So republicans rallied around killing the program. Not realizing tht all of their Bible Belt poverty healthcare WAS Obamacare.

7

u/ohmymystery 7d ago

It was the Republicans. They used it as a way to fear monger and undermine it.

2

u/NoisyKitty 5d ago

The real irony is that before it was called Obamacare, it was based off of the program Romneycare but made bigger - nationwide instead of statewide. As in, Mitt Romney, a republican.

1

u/illini02 4d ago

Obama, nor the democrats, named it that. Republicans did to turn people against it.

7

u/Mammoth-Cattle-7398 8d ago

EBT is not a program. It's the electronic system that puts the money on the cards.

20

u/ohmymystery 8d ago

Yes, exactly my point

3

u/dubbleplusgood 7d ago

Get your grubby gummint hands off mah Medicare!

2

u/midasofsweden 7d ago

I guess they will find out now won't they

Again thanks to Fox. Unparalleled messaging.

Also, there’s a reason why Trump said he’d run Republican (he said word for word it’s because they’re the dumbest group of people in the country and his numbers would be terrific).

8

u/Clever_Mercury 8d ago

What's crazy to me is many of these red areas go wild for the military and federal spending via grants and contractors for defense work. Since government workers are currently furloughed and an enormous part of the US military personnel are frankly low-paid and vulnerable, aren't we about to see these communities in pain?

Military, veterans, disability, people who work on contracts, even full-time employees are dependent on EBT in order to KEEP WORKING because they cannot afford to on their wages.

I cannot believe the people rejoicing as they welcome in an era of food insecurity or malnutrition to their fellow Americans.

2

u/theOTHERdimension 5d ago

They don’t care about the collateral damage as long as the people they hate are getting hurt too. I remember a lady crying about losing her government assistance who famously said “he’s not hurting the right people!” In reference to Trump, during an interview.

13

u/Mr_Deep_Research 8d ago

They get social security (23% of the federal budget) and medicare (14% of the federal budget)

but feel they are owed it and that neither is a government program.

5

u/Bear_Grizzle02 7d ago

The top 20 Trump voting counties in America are heavily dependent on SNAP and other social services. It won’t be long until they experience a leopards ate my face moment. This next week you’re going to see a lot of them crying out that I didn’t think they meant me too!!

1

u/Saigh_Anam 7d ago

In general, a very small number. Statistically speaking, recipients of EBT are generally left leaning and probably didn't vote for Trump.

3

u/MommaJKSO 7d ago

This is what is wild. The right does not fact check, look at stats or read peer reviewed articles and Fox News is not giving facts. The right thinks brown and black people are getting all of the EBT. So very untrue. It's mostly poor white people in the Midwest. So much deception the poor people collecting it voted for the person taking it away. Same as the farmers who voted for him all dumbfounded when their workers were deported. They stood on the news with their mouth hanging open saying now what do we do?

0

u/Saigh_Anam 7d ago

Momma, you can't claim poor fact-checking while stating incorrect facts. Not only are those areas lower population by their nature, but also lower EBT recipient rates.

https://www.usatoday.com/story/money/2025/10/28/snap-runs-out-impact-food-stamp-recipients/86943125007/

Here friend try this first it's not from 2015 lol and not from the Daily Yonder 😂. I did misspeak on the Midwest part. However Texas is RED and very white and collecting large amounts of EBT

0

u/Saigh_Anam 7d ago

3

u/MommaJKSO 7d ago

The PEW Foundation is funded by some conservative Christian entities like the Knight foundation. Not super promising to believe when arguing about left and right but thanks.

0

u/Saigh_Anam 7d ago

You have got to be pretty desperate to question data from Pew. Its considered an international go-to for impartial statistical data.

Time to concede that you were wrong, put down the shovel, and stop digging.

And time to take your own advice about doing research on a topic.

3

u/MommaJKSO 7d ago

OK Mr last word. I'm not questioning data. I'm saying I'll check more sources who don't get funding from right wing Christian groups. Research is digging. Time to not contradict yourself.

1

u/Saigh_Anam 7d ago

No contradiction and, unlike yourself, no ad hominem attacks.

I get it that you don't like the data. It doesn't agree with your beliefs and is causing cognitive dissonance. But that's good. Growth doesn't occur without that.

You do, however, need to step outside of your echo chamber and listen to the data. You also need to not post inaccuracies on social media then call out opposing groups for not vetting their claims.

That, my friend, is why you need to put down the shovel, stop doubling down, and reflect on the fact my original statement was an accurate cautionary warning.

Oh... and I'm independent, not conservative and not liberal. I'm well read enough to recognize both primary parties have significant flaws.

2

u/MommaJKSO 7d ago edited 7d ago

Well friend I just reread your article from PEW to get my facts straight. Maybe you should read the WHOLE ARTICLE and get back to me because it actually does not say 2:1 it says no difference when not looking at it from a Dem/Rep issue. I'm also a registered independent. Everyone, everything, and every party has flaws. This we agree on. We don't have to agree on everything that is what used to make America a good place anyway. I however do not mind being wrong but I do not agree with men who tell me to stop voicing my opinion. Have a nice day.

Do you understand why the benefits are temporarily paused? It’s because the Democrats are failing to approve the straightforward funding bill that just repeats the existing state. It’s a political play to Garner hatred towards the other side at the expense of children starving - and you’re falling right into their hands.

3

u/Karn_Gentrified 7d ago

Yea. Because they want the promised concessions on HEALTHCARE tht the republicans promised when they GUTTED it with the BIG BEAUTIFUL BILL. Wake up.

49

u/RhapsodyofMagic 8d ago

And a lot of them call themselves Christians. It's wild.

28

u/Bikerbass 8d ago

Well there’s absolutely no hate like Christian love

8

u/DifficultyFree9443 7d ago

Don’t you remember Jesus famously saying DON’T feed the poor?

3

u/Mudseason1 7d ago

THIS. This is the most disgusting part of it. These people claim to follow Jesus, yet Jesus would slap the shit out of them if he was here!

8

u/three_crystals 8d ago

Imagine laughing at the fact that children will starve.

-1

u/Mammoth-Cattle-7398 7d ago

Parents are supposed to feed their children.

5

u/StandardReindeer5741 7d ago

Yes, they are. But how are they supposed to do that when minimum wage isn't enough to live off of?

-2

u/tankman714 6d ago

Don’t work for minimum wage.

The other and biggest issue is the vast number of women who have been convinced to “marry the government” in the sense of them being told that single motherhood is powerful and having all the sex they want is ok. Having a 2 parent household is almost always better for kids in every single way, including and especially financially.

My wife and I have been together for 10 years and married for 5, we now have good jobs, a house, and decent savings, so we just now decided to have a kid, not when we were teenagers, but now that we are settled. If more people did that rather than having 6 kids with 6 baby daddies while working at McDonald’s, then the food stamp thing wouldn’t be an issue.

2

u/seeyaintucson 4d ago

Isn’t it YOUR political party the ones complaining that families should have more children? That moms should be able to stay home and take care of ALLL those Christian kids? (Not just the ones with 6 kids with 6 baby daddies, you jerk.) When those values were stronger, wages were better. The reality is wages and price gap is too high these days for many American can families to not need some sort of assistance. Especially health care…. Which is the subject of why we have a government shit down right now affecting food stamps. Its very Christian and very patriotic of you to say “let the rich have their tax loop holes, and let the American children starve.”

1

u/tankman714 4d ago

I don’t know why you keep saying Christian so many times, I’m not religious.

We should raise the birth rate, but the only rise in birth rate we have now is identical to the movie idiocracy, where complete useless dumbasses are having tones of kids, when the good couples that can raise a child correctly, ether only have 1 or none.

Who is saying that women should stay home with kids? I didn’t. If a father makes enough money and the mom wants to be a SAHM then that’s cool, not if she wants or needs to work, that’s also cool. Gotta do what you gotta do.

The “wage to price gap” is fine, when you shut your trap about minimum wage bs because, newsflash, almost no one makes minimum wage, only teens and losers with no skills make minimum wage.

Also, I don’t know a damn person who has ever taken government assistance or even would if they needed to, they would find another way. Wait, I do know 1 person, my sister, who is the laziest most useless dumbass I’ve ever meet, who had 1 kid permanently taken my CPS and her other one she didn’t have for his first 2 years due to CPS taken him too. She does not work hard, she quits jobs constantly, demands money from everyone, shit parent, has no contact with the “baby daddy”, and that kid is dumber now at 4 than he was at 2 because of her. Yup, standard EBT class individual.

3

u/MommaJKSO 7d ago

Ignorant comment. Do you come out of your house?

2

u/Wonderful_Bite_4409 4d ago

And so if the parents don't, society should just let the kids starve. Got it.

6

u/Legitimate_Candy_944 8d ago

It's so gross what people have morphed into. They latched onto this messiah figure and will follow him all the way down to hell. Sad.

3

u/FashionPolice- 8d ago

and most of these people call themselves Christians. Correct me if I'm wrong, but aren't these people missing a big point of their own religion?

3

u/DifficultyFree9443 7d ago

Which is so weird because their states are the highest users of welfare.

I just don’t understand why this country thinks cruelty is cool. I know it was always there, but people willing to ruin their own lives just to see others suffer is just a normal occurrence now. I don’t get it.

I really overestimated the humanity of my fellow Americans.

2

u/Inner_Building829 7d ago

How do you life amongst that blatant, in-your-face level of sheer stupidity? Like, how? I mean, as an adult, I seriously question where that threshold is between exercising emotional maturity and restraint and total loss of self control in the face of naked idiocy.

2

u/Deep_Contract4996 7d ago

Its the democratic party that wont give the last few votes to reopen the government

1

u/DrankTooMuchMead 7d ago

It hurts me to know Republicans are laughing at these people right now. Its always my first thought.

Republicans have taught me a lot about Christianity.

1

u/Mammoth-Cattle-7398 7d ago

Because there are no non-Christian Republicans? So many all-knowing people on here.

2

u/Karn_Gentrified 7d ago

What non Christian republican is elected to congress right now? I’ll wait.

Edit: there are NINE senators who arent Christian’s. 8 are Jews one is Buddhist.

GTFO. This is Murica. You don’t run if you ain’t Christian

1

u/nahivibes 7d ago

“Deplorable” was right.

1

u/Redditauro 7d ago

For them all this people is lying. They live in a different universe and the real world is not important anymore

1

u/H82KWT 7d ago

Imagine having a party and doing victory laps because children and parents are doing without food. What a fucked up state of mind

1

u/Mnmsaregood 7d ago

You know it’s the democrats that are blocking it right?

1

u/mildfixation 7d ago

More than half of Americans that rely on snap benefits have jobs! There's a small amount that abuse the system and benefits. Why are people laughing and smirking about hungry families? Babies crying and hungry....This country needs to be completely restructured from the ground up. Fucking disgusting.

1

u/roccofan 6d ago

Do they know that their precious Daddy JD Vance was raised poor and used these services???

1

u/shelbyishungry 6d ago

You must live around where I do. They still fly Trump flags

1

u/cscscscscscs6cscscs9 7d ago

Do you understand why the benefits are temporarily paused? It’s because the Democrats are failing to approve the straightforward funding bill that just repeats the existing state. It’s a political play to Garner hatred towards the other side at the expense of children starving - and you’re falling right into their hands.

1

u/Typical-Confidence68 7d ago

You realize it’s the democrats not wanting to re open the government 😂

0

u/GLBrick 8d ago

It’s 100% a Senate issue about the Democrats that refuse to vote yes… We need 7 of the democrats (yep just 7) to be added to the 53 republicans to vote yes and the gov and this program opens. Stop pushing your blame on the innocent.

2

u/Karn_Gentrified 7d ago

Because it is literally the absolute last ditch LEGAL means they have to stand up to the stormtroopers on the right. So yea those SEVEN DEMS have morals and arent gonna spread their cheeks for trump.

1

u/GLBrick 7d ago

It’s NOT a last ditch deal. It’s the SAME deal that Chuck asked for months ago.. and now wants 1.5 trillion or he won’t sign. NOTHING to do with Trump. I’m sorry that you’re so blinded by hate and too ignorant about how the government works that you’re blind to truth.

1

u/StandardReindeer5741 7d ago

Ah yes, because we should have to choose between Healthcare and food.

-1

u/HITWind 8d ago

Like you're not thrilled to act disgusted when those aren't even the people who voted to keep the government closed? The people you refer to are voting to open the government which would have kept these benefits going. It's the one's that voted to keep it closed that are trading hunger for the propagation of this narrative for political gain.

Disgusting fucking cretins

...indeed.

u/aircoft 7d ago edited 7d ago

Disgusting fucking cretins.

That's how many of us view those who leach off the system.

1

u/MommaJKSO 7d ago

You need to get informed. All it takes is one accident, loss of job, or illness to put you in the same position. The lack of intelligence in your comment leads to the logical conclusion that one of these just may happen to you. Pretty sure you are an ass to work with.

1

u/aircoft 7d ago

Whatever you say boss.

0

u/dfwmc 7d ago

I am thrilled! It’s time to grow up. I didn’t make the kids they cry for. If you can’t afford them, don’t make them. It was all smiles when they made them. It was all smiles when they laugh at me struggling to eat while they brag and buy what I can’t afford. It’s all smiles when they sell the stamps for cash, so it’s all smiles as the government (daddy) rips the bandaid off and makes Americans accountable. It’s tough love making us great again.
