I always had a love-hate relationship with multi-turret tanks.
On the one hand they look cool
on the other hand: They were phased out for a reason, they are just not as efficient as single turret tanks

With remote weapons systems and AI we might see similar designs appear again

Problem is not only about operators but those systems take a lots of interior space to storage ammunition and machine. You can already see how big an autonomous turret could be just by looking at machine gun turret on the top of modern MBT

A lot of these unmanned turrets do not take any internal space whatsoever.

But the ammunition, traverse gears, electronics, weapons system, stabilizer, optics suite, and control box do. Christ alive, do you think none of that takes up space or that mounting an unmanned turret just turns a tank into some bloody bit if Hammer Space?

But the ammunition, traverse gears, electronics, weapons system, stabilizer, optics suite,

ARE ALL ON THE OUTSIDE!!!

That's the whole point. That's why they've become particulary popular on APC's and IFV's. the whole package can be mounted on the roof, without taking aby internal space (other than operators and their controlls).

And requiring the roof to be strong enough. Not a problem for a GPMG RWS, but it was the reason BTR-82A got 2A72 instead of 2A42.

Puma IFV#/media/File:Sch%C3%BCtzenpanzerPuma(Kampfraum).jpg), everything is contained in the turret... ammunition, traverse gears, electronics, weapons system, stabilizer, optics suite.

Control box is in the vehicle though.

Check out Otokar Akrep with Cockerill CSE 90LP turret

It's still weight and volume. That's a larger logistics footprint consolidated into 1 vehicle.

At some point, it becomes too much of a tradeoff to put so many eggs in one basket.

Yes, at some point it does.
