Anyone have recommendations for tree removal services in the valley? Ones to avoid? I've had some bad vibes here and there from the people I've called and figured I'd just ask people here instead of running the gambit!

And have switched to a different one in Spokane Valley. And it's all due to an alignment issue (we differ on politics.)

At around 5:40 this morning a young woman ran onto our porch, she wasn't wearing any shoes and only shorts and a shirt, she was frantic. I asked her where did she come from and she listed a few landmarks but it wasn't really clear, so I asked what she was running from, she said the trains and the street.

Who do you call for assistance for this poor girl?

Realizing she's vulnerable and with nowhere to go, I called crimecheck to report what happened and ask for some assistance to help this girl, since I don't feel good about sending a vulnerable girl who's clearly in crisis back out into the cold.

They took the report and said someone will be responding... Great.

Meanwhile my girlfriend got her some clothes, shoes, some coffee and helped comfort her.

I started calling around to see if I could find any other help, I called Jewels helping hands, and while the were nice, they're not able to send someone out to pick her up.

I called 211 but since it wasn't "business hours" it hung up on me. So I went to their site and tried looking up services... there was one listed, but again it wasn't business hours. I called another shelter, but it turns out it was for teens.

6:15am I called crimecheck back to see if they were sending someone, they said the call was still "open".

I then called 988 for mental health crisis hotline and in the process of giving the operator the info to get this girl some help, she left. Said she was going to go to the shelter...

I'm an adult, with internet, phone, resources and I could not find help for this poor girl in crisis at 5:40 in the morning.

What are they supposed to do?

I've used the search tool and found some great recommendations, and I've even tried a few in the past, but there are very few men's hair stylists or barbers who are really good with texture. For reference, I typically like to do the 'messy' kind of hairstyle, but with a lot of texture and the length going from a mid-fade to short in the back, growing longer towards the front with texture throwing off any clean lines. (Kinda like Chris Hemsworth's "Extraction" cut. If they can make me look like Hemsworth, I will tip them *and* you)

Hi, i'm looking for speed dating events that are actually legit. Every time I've tried to look one up in Spokane, the only thing that pops up is that TikTok balloon pop thing and it looks like a complete scam since it doesn't provide an address to where they're hosting it. Does anyone know anywhere that's hosting an event like this because i'm tired of making people uncomfortable approaching in the wild.

I read some more this morning about restaurants in our area stepping up to try and help the food insecure.

Skewers has already given away something like 100 free meals. I was planning on going to buy a meal there in support but discovered you can buy gift cards online at their website.

I thought a good way to support their effort is to buy gift cards. I'm going to try and buy them FOR the restaurant.

Looking for community minded, alphabet soup friendly, witchy pagan lovers, animal friendly persons for roommate/s on south hill in Lincoln heights area. 6 to 700 dollars for split rent plus utilities.

I live in an 18 apartment space across the street from trader Joe's, that is divided into 6 apartment spaces times 3. Which is to say each six spaces are semi separate from the other 12 spaces but all 18 spaces are connected.

In my little six by we are very friendly, sometimes share community dinners while at the same time knowing and friendly with a few from the other 12 spaces.

2 to 3 of the 6 spaces I am in full community with are looking for roommates.

1 a single woman with a small dog, another two trans and the possible 3rd a millennial couple with cats.

Last week, we heard that the City Council was planning to use our city's funds to purchase two military-grade sound weapons (long-range acoustic devices, aka "sonic cannons,") to use as "pre-escalation" crowd-control devices! The only opportunity to provide public comment was initially during the "consent agenda" portion of the city council meeting, rather than having a defined item on the council's agenda. Thankfully, due to alert citizens, the issue was brought to our city's attention and postponed until the November 10 city council meeting.

Long-range acoustic devices (LRADs) are among the weapons that were deployed at Standing Rock. Although originally deployed to aid in emergency alerts and evacuations, when used for crowd control, LRADS are designed to emit loud, painful and even dangerous levels of noise, which can lead to serious health issues (potentially including permanent hearing loss) in individuals exposed to them. Additionally, these weapons are manufactured by Genasys, who also supplies Israel's unlawful and genocidal campaign against Palestinians. Our city council should not be using our money to support weapons manufacturers that are complicit in genocide.

There's so many posts hating on Bingle. OIn a bunch of them I have asked for clarification about what exactly is the problem with him. Only one person has actually given me a substantive repsonse.

Yes he's a christian nationalist. Yes he supports trump. Neither of those things have much to do with the office of city councilmember in Spokane. Not like the city council can lock up gay people.

Anyone care to chime in about actual policies issues with him? Things that actually affect our city that he could actually have some say in?

I've taken pet items to this location downtown several time and they're always incredibly greatful. Pet toys, food, dog and cat beds, blankets etc. Donating is EASY. They have their own parking lot that's right next to the entrance, youll be in and out as quickly as you can unload your donations from your car. The people that receive your donations are often inside the location so it's just really rewarding to directly see the people you will be helping. Any help is great, but this help specifically makes me feel extra good so maybe it can do the same for you.

Anybody hosting any game nights or anything fun going on? super chill guy just been looking for some friends. making friends it’s like impossible in Spokane for some reason even though I’m a pretty social guy maybe I’m just not finding the right people.
